Holloween Vs X-mas

Two popular holidays xD who'd win
(not spam if u all keep bannin my Threads)
Christmas = presents...snow...no school...
Halloween = candy.. costumes... scary stuff

I really thought we had the most useless thread ever, but as always someone can come up with something even more utterly useless.

Typical example of a kid who thinks that the only country in the world is the US, hasn't got a clue where Santa Claus originates from or what the meaning behind Halloween is.

Total failure.

Halloween would nowadays be seen as a derivation from the Catholic (or religious) All Souls (and all Saints), but of course the americans had to make it into a dressing up.

If only it would have stuck at Samhain, if only....

Halloween is the day before All Saints Day. It's oringinal custom was that kids would dress up as their favorite saint and colect candy from people. However, it has been horribly twisted around and made into another "day of the dead". Notice the term "Hallow". That's another word for holy.

Saint Nicolas is the answer to the first question; I'm pretty sure that either the Netherlands or the UK brought it to the US. And I'm not sure about the last one :o
