Some really great ideas getting thrown around here. Personally, I believe Gazza is on the right track.
As I have mentioned earlier in the thread if the mods feel this potential new forum would be just another burden for them I would be happy lighten the load by helping them run the thing.
Just to mention something, wouldn't the 18+ room be for people 18 and above to talk about more interesting things without being interrupted? If that's so, why can <18 people who like talking about interesting things be there? I'm sure my parents would love it if I could talk to someone who pays attention to what I think about whatever.
I think that probation would be a good idea and recommending someone and just general applying for the board would be what would work.

anyone with kids here? how about living on your own or in college? how about talking about that in a forum thats for 18+ it's more of a forum to sift through age groups. Think a 30 year old talking to a 14 year old in forums. It's just not fair. I agree with the age forum, and if people lie about their age oh well. Let the kids talk to a bunch of old geezers. As long as it's clean that seems like a good idea. clean being no R rated conversations or pictures.

I personally see no need for this, but a suggestion for those who really like the idea:
Don't make it 18+ or have restrictions. You simply call it a 'mature forum' and have an obvious notice/disclaimer up that the content may not be for younger eyes. This way the forum is protected if a parent notices a child luking it who shouldn't, but you can also let in the more mature people who may not be 18.
Assuming of course there isn't going to be links or talk of a nature which isn't neccessary on the forum anyway (and illegal for minors), but more over a more...relaxed area.
Don't attack wolf pack, or try attack the other users thats going off topic and will not be tolerated.
I agree with most of what has been said in this thread, however, one suggestion that might be made is that instead of creating a seperate forum, we could create a user group with limited access. I or one of the other moderators could host it, and of course applications could be done in a thread on one of the forums, or via PM. The team would then review it, and review the poster, from there we would then decide about allowing the individual in.
I agree with that idea of a separate user group, it a lot easier than make a new forum, and each member must be invited or accepted by the mod in charge of it. Thus allowing control on who is able to see. As for the new user group we can just the change the color of your forum name, like the mods and admins have.. obliviously a different color.
