18+ room

Just wondered is there gonna be an 18+ room in here? most forums have them but i don't see one on this one. Just a thought for us older lot lol :)

After having a discussion with Evony Admin, I believe that I will close this thread for the following reasons.

This game is an PG rated game, meaning there is little profanity allowed(VERY LITTLE), and hence the forums should be as well.

It is very easy to lie about one's age on the internet. The only way to verify if someone is over 18+ would put their own personal security at risk, and we can not have that.

18+ forums normally revolve around lude/erotic/"nasty" topics that need not be discussed on a game oriented forum, and can turn into something that can get Evony itself shut down(I have seen this occur in my own personal experience.

If you believe this thread should be re-opened. PM me, or Evony Admin to discuss why you believe it should be. Till than, I here by close this thread.

Doing that would seriously repel the younger people coming to play, and make the forums a dirty, dark place...

doesn't necessarily have to be dirty stuff thats not what i'm saying!!! most 18+ parts on forum need an administrator to grant access to enter also. It's only a suggestion - not for smutty talk or dirty talk just to meet the older players that play on evony. lol

Not hard for people to fake their age on a forum.

well yeah of couse Gazza but thats where you gotta trust your instincts - you can normally tell someone's age by the way they speak and act on forums. And Yes Chris that was exactly what i was getting at lol

If you want this to happen you should post the idea in the Forum suggestion area.

I would be ok with it too, it may need a moderator though for the sole purpose of making sure that things don't get to be umm too innapropriate, but we could lift some of the language restrictions in it. I would be for it, someone move it to the forum suggestion?

Didn't say no moderators but there are ways of knowing who is faking their age and who isn't just a suggestion.if not I'll just start a new thread for the older players to introduce themselves. The forum I help run restricts the younger members from seeing certain parts of the forum but still we apply rules as to the content that is written which is where us mods come in :)

There is also no shortage of 18+ players who act like they're 5...

I agree that it would be a great thing to have, but next to impossible to properly police.

I see no reason for such a section and its easy to fake ones age on the internet. besides ive seen 25 year olds act like 5 year olds and visa versa

Seperate 18- ages with 18+ ages = Good.
No mods = DIE, MODS! Just joking. Maybe some.

If you do this then you NEED mods in it. Every time I've been on a site with a "no rules" board it turned into a place for people to troll, flame and generally **** off all the other members until people either got sick of it and left or got so mad that they started attacking people in the regular board and ended up getting banned.

The best way to do this would be to make the board invisible to anyone who's age isn't over 18, that way they don't even know what they're missing.

I guess one way to counter that is make people apply for membership to that private forum, then leave it to the mods discretion as to whether or not the person is really 18.

Of course, with everything, there is always going to some who slip through the cracks.

To keep people under 18 from seeing things you'd consider them too young to see or to just sift out the immature people who can't handle 18+ type topics.

Its sorta out of our (non-staff I mean) hands right now, wouldn't you say? The subject has been brought up, shown to have support. What more can non-staff members do at this point but continue to say 'yes, that would be cool'?

i agree that all we can do is say yes we want it . but we also need some more support so if have any friends that play the game that are 18+ have them come show there support for 18+ forum

You could suggest rules for it an how it would work, essentially what they want is a valid argument of why they should out that section into the forum what would its purpose be etc. If you can provide those arguments then it might happen.

I think the main purpose of the room would be so older people can talk without having "kids" interrupt. Also the subject matter would be more adult. I think the rules on sexual talk should be slightly relaxed but still no swearing or **** or detailed lewd descriptions. Basically a social board for adults.

It would be relatively easy to moderate after it was created. I still suggest making the board invisible to non-members and people who's birthday lists them as under 18, also probably over 70 to because lots of kids like to give themselves ridiculous birthday's and ages on the internet and I doubt there are any people that will play this game that are over 50 let alone 70.

So would you suggest a modification to the current list of censored words in that particular area of the forums? Also how would you keep the people under aged out. Since the forum would be for adults, would you require stricter "proper" language that is English not engrish?

yes everyone would have to talk in proper english . none of this tween language .

Yeah, modifying the censored words for that section would be good.

And aside from making the board invisible or restricting it to certain ages there isn't much I could think to do to prevent people from getting on the board. The only thing I can think of is having harsh penelties for any underage user caught posting or viewing the forums. Maybe double the amount of usual infractions or an automatic X amount of time suspension.

And like Berwyn said proper English would be a must. We don't need to be Grammar Gestapo, a couple typos or misspellings wouldn't be a problem, but no tlkin leik dis, or 1337 speak or anything like that.
