mmmmm have fun with this one. Multis on IP should be intolerable tbh.

Me and my sister and mother all play from my laptop, same IP address, and are all near each other. if you put out an ip ban or computer ban somehow, all 3 of us would get banned and wouldnt be able to play or buy more evony coins. Is there a way that we could contact an admin and explain our problem or just something so as not to lose out on any of our play time? and also i read in the forum somewhere that you can account sit for a friend or trusted person. whats the rules on that?
I had the same misconception you had, that same-computer users would somehow have to choose amongst themselves to determine who could keep playing on each server. However, Dawnseeker's post has cleared that up.
So, a recap:
Multiple players, each playing from a different machine within a network/same IP: Ok, with no play restrictions as to sharing resources, etc.
Question: What if players share machines interchangeably? Will this affect anything, or is it going to be differentiated every time they log in? Also, how long will the game 'record' the info on the last machine used for each account?
Multiple users on the same server, on one machine: All will still be allowed to play, but will not be able to share resources.
Question: Again, the question I asked before. The reason for this is because, lets say Mary and Willy live together, and they have 2 computers available to them, but they interchange which machine they use based on who gets which one first. OR...they have to use internet cafe's and sometimes get the machines the other had last time...how will this system treat those accounts? If they log in from the same computer that the other has used, will this then cause a same-computer block to go into effect? Or, will the game only hold this information for a set period of time, and then they are free to share again?
Basically...if, once they log in from a computer the other has used, will this then cause them to be seen by the game as "same-machine users", and if so, is it permanent?
I found my answer using the search terms: flash + cookie
I am so thankful to the Evony community for making me aware that adobe had enabled a new form of information storage on my computer that bypasses all of my browser based security settings.
while relatively harmless I like knowing that they are there.
and I am glad that Evony found a better solution than the simple IP bans I have had to deal with in other games.
thank you.
I and my sister use two different computers while at home and though the server/network issues that were posted do not apply to us, We have a new problem.
Our father, the IT whiz, developed a proxy that takes our internet requests and processes them through his computer, enabling him to observe our actions.
However, this causes his computer to store things like cookies that we pick-up online. His computer even loads the entire Civony application and follows our mouse clicks.
Anyways on to the point...
Online, we appear as one computer and since his computer is storing these little bits of virtual information that is intended to be used to track us, what is to become of us?
So am I understanding this problem wrong?
Say one guy has absolutely NO life and creates 10 accounts on the same server. Are you guys saying that his 10 accounts constitute cheating or the fact that he would have been able to share resources between those accounts?
i like how everyone has a "sister" or a "girlfriend" playing from the same computer....looks like im starting my 2nd and third accounts...aybe if im feeling up to it ill start a 4th account
