Well, I for one get upset when I see someone hit 120k prestige and war reports show 40k archers hitting my alliance on day 4 of a server. Now I spent around 100 dollars and even hit 1000 cents so yould think Id be amoung the top players and I am if you consider top 100. But, seeing this tells me someones either dumping alot of money into the game or someones using programs that give them a big advantage.
Now before anyone says there are ways to get high prestige before bp is out, I know about them they require you to keep rank/title and town hall low and stay in bp the whole time or more of it. But, Im talking about someone having 120k prestige and townhall 7+ in 4-5 days. Everyone can surf the web and see the programs possible to use for getting an advantage, But, you need to look at players hitting these marks that havent invested 1000s of dollars into the game, because thats the only way I know how to get that much that fast without abusing some outside program like a bot. engine. etc.
If it looks bad to someone like myself who is willing to pay money to get advantages then it looks realy bad to those who dont. I feel angery when I put that money into the game and see others getting ahead of me by mile by other means.
p.s I understand you are saying make it impossible and then there are no cheaters. But people are cheating because they are bored, tired, unsatisfied, don't have the time. The reason some games allow third parties to sell their currency is so those people don't stop paying..i mean playing.
And no, evony is not going to out an tell you that no matter how much you ask for them to.
Well if they would just come out and say hey were not gonna stop people from cheating and that if you can get the programs use them, then alot less people would be complaining about something they could do as well. Only some of us like to be the best at a game without abusing stuff, it just feels better knowing you did it within the rules. if everyone was just told its ok to use these programs then no one could complain about them.
Oh is that what it is....I think you have missed my point. That's cool. How many times have you bought from a third party seller, how many times have you shared your account details, how many times have you ALWAYS done the RIGHT THING? hmmm, kinda guessed you couldn't answer that one with any degree of integrity. /shrug.
Really dude, you don't have a clue do you. The reality is that while ALL game developers will make a noise about this, any dev that has spent more than 15mins developing can tell you that it is all but impossible to stop a dedicated cheater. You know that old saying "where there is a will, there is a way"? Cheats will cheat, they will always find a way to cheat. Look at CSS leagues, even with a dedicated anti-cheat being deployed, there are still cheats - there are ways to circumvent it. People are creative and intelligent (well some aren't but thats a whole other post).
The temptation to cheat is proportionate to the time wastage in a game. The more a pain in the ... a game is the more people will want to cheat. The more people want to cheat the more demand there is for cheat development. The more sophisticated the cheat, the greater the allure to use the cheat. The more lucrative it is to cheat the more people will use it. This may prompt developers to develop an anti-cheat to counter the cheat - and this requires a considerable investment - if your profits are small this may not be possible. The more time spent developing an anti-cheat the less time spent developing the game. And on this merry-go-round, the more sophisticated the anti-cheat.....
The only people who lose out on cracking down on cheats in the long run are the end users - particularly those who pay - as their funds (if at all) are diverted to counter-cheat development. Cheats or no cheats, eventually the game economy will find its own balance with or without intervention.

So the consensus we've reached here over the past 48 hours is:
"Cheating is OK. But Evony has to pretend they care and are doing something about it."
Correct me if I'm wrong...
Correction: Cheating is not okay but if evony puts the entire game on lockdown eventually there will fewer and fewer players and the allure of an MMO is playing with other people.
If someone cheats in the end when I kill them I just take more stuff. There is no cheat for skill.
