dont be afraid of the red, but dont go nuts untill you can feed it via farming. work on heros and spend a lot of time on the game and forums learning as much as you can, then spend an even longer time playing the game with your new skills :)
sorry if its a bit confuseing.
Now to on topic part of my post:
haveing to ask how/where to find medals, thinking my 100k warriors 100k archers was a good army (ah early s6 how i miss thee)
Loseing 60k archers in one attack was devistateing

When I was a noob...
WHEN I WAS A NOOB...
1.I tried to get on Evony in the first place without flash player...
2. I attack a level 10 NPC with 10 warriors thinking I would win the battle. :)
3. I kept on saying in the world chat to create AK-47 troops (Lol).

I thought to build a city, you had to attack with the 250 workers and resources.
Then figured since they stayed in the flat they would build it... i left them there for 2 weeks lol.
Also my host told AC that he was being attacked by a rainbow.
I laughed and said did he send a unicorn as well?
Everyone laughed at me when they found out i didnt know what a rainbow was :/

when i was a noob.... when?

OMG this thread is hilarious! I thought I had discovered every possible mistake, but apparently not! Here are some of my more priceless newb mistakes:
* Accidentally dismissed my first Attack hero while hero shopping :duh:
* Trained additional archers to "man" the AT's as I built them. Then searched fruitlessly for a way to 'assign' the archers to the towers as they finished.
* On my second day of playing Evony, sent 100 swords to attack a forest. I didn't know valleys had troops. When the swords died, I announced to my alliance that "An angry beaver killed rose up to defend the forest and killed all my swords!!"
* Asked in alliance chat if I could really type as much as I wanted without spending speakers. They still deeply regret answering me honestly.
* (this one is my favorite) Hit "Blessing" when someone was attacking me. I thought the bit about "success in escaping from a disaster might lead to one additional blessing" might mean that by hitting blessing, my attackers would get discouraged and go home without killing me.
* Built my first three cities from scratch before realizing I could simply take someone else's city after they put in all the hard work :duh:
* And like everyone else, the first time my food went into the red I PANICKED!!!!
Wow, this was fun looking back over where I started and comparing it to where I am now!

Lets see:
~Panicking over being -1100 food:o
~ Having under 8 barracks:o
~ Freaking out about when i got attacked by 30k archers:o
~ Choosing an alliance that couldn't defend me
~ Thought 1000 archers was a lot.:o
~Then I was told the VH had 206k and i was like, WOW
~I now have over 420k archers
~attacking lv1 NPCs!?!?!??!
~Attacking a lv10 NPC without adding workers to the rainbow, and a 130 atk hero. Tragic loss of 90k archers.:o
~ 40k of a resource seemed like soooooo much
~ Asking about an iPhone evony app (read thalin's old post and was laughing soo hard at myself)
~ More to come

lol, let's see
made my heros be equal in poli, attack and intel
didn't change heros when doing tech or building troops
built way too many farms and quarries in my cities
-
I had always sent food with my attacks (those guys need to eat it was usually a long march to their death) lol
-
- Put my inn and my feasting hall on opposite side of one of the "main streets" in my city near the gate so the heros would be able to find it easily
-Thought that you could only store so many resources in your city equal to the space in your warehouses
-Though loadsa farms was great
-Built both my cities within a few miles of eachother
-Thought that if you wiped out all the enemies troops you took their city straight away
-Kept my gates closed so enemy scouts couldn't get into my city

When I was a noob: I was offered the moderator position and said yes. When you say yes there is no escape. :(
