I admire your attempt to remove the problem, SbD, but I would hope you would either choose a side or stay a spectator. I'm quite aware of the fact mods dislike defending their actions and I am aware that mods will protect each other so I don't expect any responses from a certain mod and I expect infractions.
Question:
Anyone have experience with GoDaddy? like their Website Tonight thingy?
There are 7 mods, 2 super mods, and a few blue people here or there that kind of supervise. So really its 9 people watching over a large forum. I say large because of the random blow ups that pop up whenever evony p1sses a customer off (daily)
I think the mods do their best given the situation they are in. They are volunteers; there is nothing in this for them. They have to deal with being authority figures in a game full of obnoxious jerks. And even worse they are have to censor/infract/edit their friends and hope their friends are mature enough to handle it. They also manage to have fun on the forums which is one of the best things about being here (at least in my opinion- the joking around)
I don't think it's fair to make these barbed comments towards them. They do their best, and they do a good job. Most importantly, they are normal people. People who happen to help make this forum worth coming to and a comfortable environment to post in. If they make a decision that people dont agree with, go to the proper channels of dealing with it rather then making it a public thing to cause trouble.

Ski, my darling, there are no sides in this forum. As moderators, we aren't out to get you. This isn't a mod vs. Member scenario. But when a member violates the rules, it is our duty to deal with it. We don't enjoy infracting or arguing with members (for the most part ;]).
Imagine us like camp counselors and you're the camper, we do this because we like camp to, meaning we like the whole camp experience, including interacting with other campers!
We all used to be normal members like you.. We aren't some overlord race of meanies. Promise :princess:
Mods should never be the reason to go to forums. Mods in application limit access to information as an extension to ruled/guidelines. One should browse forums (opinion of course) for discussion and the members.
I do get angry when I read that mods should not be called out because they are normal or volunteers. I call out average members' stupidity all the time so that others will see. It teaches a lesson and mods are not benevolent automatically as some suggest. Friends can accept infractions easily. If a mod is worried about infracting friends then they shouldn't be a mod.
Proper channels only hide embarrassment as they are designed. Mods are called out on their actions often in this thread, albeit on more serious problems.
And there are sides SbD. Not necessarily mods/members but there are sides. It is the duty of a mod to infract rule breakers. It is the duty of the infracted member to fight it or accept it.
Do you call your boss out in public? Maybe you do, or maybe you dont have a boss. IDK but its simply a matter of showing respect, which i believe our mods deserve. Its a forum not a court room, it doesnt need to be taken that seriously.
I didnt say they wouldnt infract a friend, i said it's not an enjoyable thing. Personally i think infractions are funny. But other people get irritated. Or having a post deleted etc etc. Again, they are human. Some humans dont care, and some do. I dont think it's inappropriate for them to care as long as they do what they are supposed to do :) which they do :P
Theres a way to do it, and theres a way to just be arguing for the sake of making someone look bad. the forums aren't perfect, things slip through the cracks. some things purposely slip, some don't. But there is a time and a place, and a right and a wrong.
But my boss is not a moderator and I would horrified if a moderator ever became a boss (on forum). If these forums are not court rooms why hand out judgements like infractions? When your national leader does something wrong do you voice opposition?
As I said elsewhere I wasn't infracted from the situation. I just disapproved of what happened.
I would like to point out that the mod's name would have stayed secret. She made herself public.
All right and wrong is subjective. Places mean little as long as the job is done.
oy vey you are far too literal for me skir. I'm not good at debates, i just am calling it how i see it. Which i know you are doing the same and we both think eachother is wrong. You seem to be a smart cookie, i'm going to assume you know exactly what point i'm trying to make and we are going to smile, nod and agree to disagree.
...I think I've missed out on what happened. Care to recap?
