"When Will Your Server Be Merged?"
My thread here that I started is not a request by me for people to be informed 1-2 weeks ahead. It is a reply to the locked thread in which there is a statement made by an employee that does not seem to correspond with what actually happened.
This is about conflicting information coming from an employee vs. what actually happens, and NOT just for my specific server's instance.
What I am saying is if Customer Service employees are told by someone else above them / in the group that actually handles the merges that annoucenemts are sent to the respective servers, past, present, and future, 1-2 weeks away from their merge date, then that could explain why people are getting upset about it and the CS reps don't understand why there is so much angst. If CS believes that there is a 1-2 week lead-in time before the merge, then I could honestly somewhat understand not being willing to be very sympathetic towards people. However the reality is that customers are only informed 1-2 days ahead of the merge, not 1-2 weeks.
What I was saying about N4 is that if we had been given 1-2 weeks, I doubt if I would've even been here posting about it. Most people had not started to travel yet on December 17th, but by December 22nd, when we got the notice, people were already starting to travel to their holiday destinations...
Since I am told that I can only focus on my server, then that is the only perspective I am offering...that if the assertion by an employee actually happened, then that would've greatly limited the backlash from customers. That assertion, "typically" or not, did not happen for us, nor any of the others that I'm aware of, although I do admit that some could've gotten more than 2 days notice.
HOWEVER...as I said, this applies to past, present (none going on that I'm aware of), AND FUTURE merges. My suggestion to customers is not to think that you're going to get 1-2 weeks of notice, but more along the lines of 1-2 days.
