Thread: The "big money player" excuse

I have no problem with people buying a slight advantage to help cover the costs for the others who play for free. The only complaint I have is that TP's give too much of an advantage to those who buy them in bulk and move their cities around like moving fortresses and TP out before anyone can have a chance to hit them back.

Makes it more like some wierd hyperspace battle out of star trek.
The teleporters ARE a problem, but they are part of the game. Such is life.

Regarding Big $ Players and the complaints about them.. Spend some $$ and see how far it gets you. I dropped $30 and feel I got a good return.. Those last few rose medals and some amulet fun (1 speaker sux, btw.)

IMO, a person would have to literally spend thousands for the cash alone to make a huge impact on their game. It's not like you can buy Mech Battalions or anything. Speed ups for techs would be a great investment, but you still have to lvl your heros and learn how not to get all your troops killed. Money doesn't buy knowledge.

I imagine a little time digging through the forums, asking questions of alliance mates, and trial and error attacking can turn out to be much more valuble than any item or medal.

I would say RTFM to the complainers, but, well.. there really is no manual to read.. but thats another complaint.

Server 120 springs to mind most recently when you say you still have to level your heroes:P

sounds like everyone needs to stop wondering who is spending money and who isn't, i myself don't spend money and hold my own just fine against "the money guys" i say get off your high horse. you really wanna do something about the money guys take their cites and npc them, in other words stop crying and start fighting.

There is a significant advantage of spending money, which no experience will ever achieve: multiple cities.
On the newer servers, the only way you can get medals is by mass attacking lvl10 valleys. Usually this is only possible about 2-3 weeks into the game depending on your priorities: this is with 2 cities, or 1 city with the spare city slot being used for npc's.

Now imagine you buy enough cents to get a couple medal boxes. No huge spending. But enough to get you baronet, or baron. And maybe a couple runaway cents can get you a small amount of resources to give you a little boost.
Of course no noob can build up 3-4 cities lightning fast but these spenders know the game fairly well for the most part, or receive good advice. They spend a lot of time. It is possible to have 3 cities within the first day, steadily building resources - not much, but still 3 times more than the average player, who usually builds a second city on the 2nd-3rd-4th day. Not to mention that research time is three times less: while the free player is researching archery 6, spenders are researching archery 9. That pretty much says it all.
We're talking about three times faster growth here. That's all you need. Once BP is over, with the benefit of your 3 cities and multiple npc's, you are already a lot bigger than the rest. That pretty much guarantees you security and resources: you can plunder whoever you want whenever you want.
    This leaves you with:
    a. more income than anybody
    b. more barracks than anybody
    c. better tech than anybody

Just a few cents to buy a few medal boxes.
This is all very theoretical because i've never actually used cents except from iEvony; but I do know that an extra city slot means the world for someone who can exploit it.
Grey is prey, Red is dead.

    Thanks to Tsubasa!

    evony pay my lord

    you will see,
I think you may have Evony confused with another game. Also, I don't believe that Evony was ever illegal (except in some countries (possibly)). Thirdly, when you say redid the server, what do you mean? A new server or a server merge?

As for that video, I got to around 2min and all I heard from then on was blah blah friggin blah. Most of it is coincidence. The fact that Evony and '******* were based in Delaware doesn't mean anything. Alot of games have their base in Delaware, not just Evony. Please, check ALL the facts and BOTH sides of an argument before posting some biased bull crap statement flaming a company and derailing a thread.

Have you ever run a large network of servers before??? They crash, they have problems but its not necessarily Evony's fault that they might not work properly. Also, was Evony even around in '06?? Please, stop beating a dead horse. And where are your 'facts' coming from anyway? THE INTERNET!!! FYI, the internet is full of lies and is very biased depending on what site you are on. Find cold hard proof of all this, using LEGITIMATE sites (No blogs, wikipedia, game articles that are extremely biased in one direction) and I ~MIGHT~ believe you.

Evony opened beta in April of 2009. We went live in May.

Also, I would suggest that you not believe everything you read or see in a video on the internet. There is such a thing as public records. If Evony had been sued in 2006, you could easily go see the proof of the filing for yourself. You can't, because we weren't.

Now, if you really want to believe every nonsense rumor the internet can generate, that's up to you. But if you come here and quote this stuff on our forums, we call it "false statements" and will remove your posting privileges. So believe what you like but keep it to yourself.

P.S. The crop circle issue is SO much more interesting, and actually has some evidence to back up the claims of alien messages!

But Foxy it was in the interwebz so it MUST be true, the internet Never Lies!!!!!!!

"People once believed, that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens, that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes the crow could bring that soul back to put the wrong things right"
