Never, ever abandon your city, and always use pray. It raises your loyalty by 25 and effectivly resests the time it takes to drop from 15 to 0 loyalty, an hour and a half.

If you don't have enough gold, ship gold to your city using scouts, as soon as you have the gold, pray.

You'll never lose your city as long as you don't log out.

If you are going to lose it, give the city to someone who will fight back.
