Thread: Evony II iPhone / iPad / iPod touch app?

Default Evony II iPhone / iPad / iPod touch app?

Now that Adobe has made it easy to port a flash program to iApp is there any discussion at evony hq about this possibility? It would bring thousands upon thousands of new players and thousands of existing players have already said that they would pay for such an app. If the answer is still no can the evony community get a real reason as to why?

    Thumbs up Evony app

I think that making an evony app a advertising it to the right people could get millions more people playing. There are more than 10,000,000 teens with iPods/iPhones in the U.S. And many of them would love it. As a supporter of this, I am 14 and typing rhis from my iPod. I would pay at least $5 for the app!

Hold on, lets just wait for it to be released first okay?

Well shouldn't they work on both at the same time and put them out at the same time? But if it is a possibility it would be good to know. As I said before Adobe is mad at Apple so.... They have made it very easy to port over flash programs to iApps.

there is one problem, it wouldn't be in flash on the iphone because of differences in capabilities between xcode and action script. thus Evony would have to make changes first to make it work more seamlessly when ported to the iphone. Additionally, Evony would have to enroll in the iPhone developer program, which would require them to pay a fee (for evony's use it would be around $100), in order for them to publish the app.

I agree that there will be minor and perhaps some major re-writing if blocks of code but it would bring in thousands if not more new customers The fee to place apps on iTunes is nominal compared to the ammount of money generated by a small fee for the app. People want and are willing to pay real money to have said app. Evony requires a decent ammount of oversight from the user and if said user could be monitoring their town(s) while at work or on vacation from their phone or a wi-gi connection there would be great benefit to that. If you could go away from your computer for 5-10 hours with out risking your town(s) then perhaps there would in my eyes not be such a demand / need for this app. I like the fact anyone is fair game at almost any time, it makes the game more exciting

No, not right now. It's a good idea, and has been suggested many times in the game suggestion forum. We're focusing right now on the development of Age II and running the beta, fixing the bugs, etc. That isn't to say it will never happen, just right now we're focused on other things.

We'll be able to run full flash apps on portable phones soon enough, evony need not even spend time on this to find itself on people's phone's eventually however Heretic is right the game mechanics would have to be changed as the only way to take a city is to catch its owner offline, if people can save their cities wherever they are, and someone home-brews a program to make the phone ring to alert you when you're asleep, the game will have become a complete SIM.
