Thread: What is wrong with looking after my friends account?

Default What is wrong with looking after my friends account?

I cant see what is wrong with looking after my friends account while he alseep.

Its a war game and we are looking out for each other. I have made some very good friends here who have trusted me with their log in details and like wise. People from across the world whom I have never met in person other than Evony.

I don't farm for them, I dont build troops for them I just watch out. What is wrong with that I have no idea.

It builds trust, comraderie and host of all other benefits that this world needs today. Why people feel that is cheating blows me away.

If people out there don't share the same trust with their fellow alliance members then that is sad in itself. Exactly what the world is becoming today everyone for them self and who gives a razoo about the person next door.

Wake up people their is nothing wrong with a strong bonding friendship between people and the game should encourage it.

PS: In saying that I would like to add that if Evony requests that i do not log in then so be it. But I totally disagree as I see it as a great war unit who work well together.

REMEMBER its not farmville ITS A WAR GAME and the very essence of a successful team is trust.

It is against the rules for someone to play someone else's account, for any reason, without prior notification of admin. Even then, Evony allows limited account-sitting with admin approval, but not unlimited account-sharing.

In other words, if you are expecting to be out of town and want your wife to play your account for you, that's fine if you let them know. Going on vacation and want your VH to watch over things? Again, fine if you let them know.

What Evony does NOT allow is the practice of sharing account information with members of your alliance so that nobody is ever really offline. They jump onto each other's accounts to defend, attack, etc. If you trust each other that much, why not share cell numbers so you can text each other when needed? Or make contact via skype/msn/aim? There's nothing wrong with that...They just don't want everyone jumping on and off each other's accounts as that is unfair gameplay and goes against the spirit of the game.

note: copy/paste from a FB statement with a few words changed. (Like "we" changed to "they," since I'm not an Evony rep)

A weakness most good player has is when they are logged off.
God forbid if a good player never logs off, that would pist off alotof players.. how else do you take revenge?

    Exactly.

The single greatest strategy in the game is to attack when the enemy is offline. If you remove that as a viable strategy, then that's a massive advantage. If everyone who plays fair has to be offline while they sleep and work, then removing that factor from your alliance mates by account sharing qualifies as an "unfair advantage."

Then "they" should remove alliances all together as that also goes as an unfair advantage. Those with many will outweigh those with few.

Alliances are formed as just that Alliances, team, group, unit.

Yes we do have that trust where all cells are exchanged and the likes.

Its just a question I put forward as I did not see what was morally wrong with the action.

put simply, IT IS AGAINST THE RULES.

i can see your point and i don't agree. i currently play on a server where my alliance is at war wit another. they all share their log in info so we can hardly ever catch them offline.

and when you fight 1 city you are practically fighting 5 at once because of it.

you will need to get TONS more support to back you before they change THAT particular rule and i will let you know now. I will fight against you on that topic.

the wars lose their fun when people break the rules.

What you have described is account sharing, which is no different than multi-accounting.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it!

What if I'm not going to be able to use PC for a few days, can I ask my friend to look after my account during those days?

If you cannot be online for a few days, you may contact Evony and let them know that you have chosen ONE person to sit your account. Say your lord name, their lord name, what time period it is for, and your server number. Piece of cake.

The sharing of account information, though, is a terrible idea. I'd also like to point out that we've had an awful lot of people who absolutely 100% trusted someone to do this with them and then someone had a falling out. The "trusted friend", "brother", or in one case that comes to mind "upset husband", then ran amok with the person's account, destroying it or even resetting it completely. And of course, the victimized player would always like us to fix their account for them. It is our current policy not to do so, so I would really advise, no matter how you feel about cheating, not to leave yourself open to this kind of damage.
