    Default Books, Books, Books.

Hey I see alot of threads about books, but there all about certain books or your favourite ones. This thread will be used plainly on, talking about anything about books (maybe a few discussions :P).

Anyway to start it off I'll just mention my most favourite book, author and series

My most favourite book would have to be Robin Hobb's Assassins Apprentice. It was my first actual novel and I loved it to bits. the explanation of the day to day activities that happened within the book was awesome, you barely knew a plot was developing until the very end. It seems most of the book is character development but this makes the reader have a very strong relationship with the characters imo. It helped make that suspenseful moment all the more enjoyable.

My favourite author would have to be George R.R Martin (GRRM). Not just for his books but for his attitude with writing at the moment he is writing a book that has taken him well over 5 years to write and many old fans are hating him for it. To me this only gets me more excited as it shows how he isn't going to rush a book just because of fan hype. and as for his books. Wow. That's all I have to say about them lol.

Being my favourite author of course he's going to have my favourite series. The ongoing a song of ice and fire books have been one of the best reads ever. The plot the intrigue, everything about it is great!! what I enjoy the most is that you never know whats going to happen next but you can have an educated guess at it (GRRM leaves subtle hints for certain things). even the characters themselves are all very complex. its not your basic good vs evil, everyone has faults and everyone has a reason for the way they act.

anyway as you can see I love my Books :P please begin talking about Books Books Books!!!

favourite book series : Pendragon. Warriors.
cant think of any others although there are a ton

Pendragon is a 7 book series if my memory is correct. there are about 10 other books about the series to.
if you like to read fantasy with a bit of romance, and a ton of action ( fighting, defences, explosians, and epic new worlds traveled through by Bobby Pendragon)
    definitlly a good read

The Quintaglio Ascension trilogy by Robert J Sawyer.
    1) Far-Seer
    2) Fossil Hunter
    3) Foreigner

I have not read such amazing world-building since Tolkien.
If your a fantasy or sci-fi fan at all, I would call it a "must read"
They are by far the best sci-fi/fantasy books I have EVER read!

May not be the original intent of the OP; but do people read any Literature anymore?

I am talking Joseph Conrad, Hemingway, Dumas. Heck, even Steinbeck, Fitzgerald, Kerouac, Gogel, Camus?

I know most of the authors I mentioned are only found in lit classes or school- but they are some amazing books that can still ring true today.

G.R.RM is on my top list for authors as well. I'm currently reading through the Ice n Fire series for a 2nd time.

I have so many favorite books I don't think I can pick.

Other authors I like are: Francine Rivers, Sherrilyn Kenyon, R.A. Salvatore, Robert Jordon, Scott Olson Card, ect.

    Define literature.

Be more specific. I can put down a few names there where you have never even heard of, books you cannot read, but that are literature for the country.

I miss Dostojevski, Angelou, Oe (the e should be read as an e with two dots on it - Japanese writer), Murakami, Allende, Claus, Mulisch, Brink and about 5,000 others.

Hey, I do read Dumas and Steinbeck, but not as often as I did during school. I end up buying and reading more collections of poetry in books, with Frost, Browning, ect.

Special Props To Don Ezio for this!

In war, victory. In peace, vigilance. In death, sacrifice.

Frost is a good poet, although I prefer Edgar Allen Poe myself
