Either you are misreading the thread/posts, or you are not understanding what it means to design a solid endgame situation within your game mechanics.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So basically what every post in this thread says is that the players themselves are at fault for needing giant armies?
hmmmmmm....
Then why should Evony have to fix it?
Evony is a game that has no ending - it has an endGAME. That means, after a certain amount of progress, you end up at some general point of gameplay, and the way this gameplay is designed is important. Without solid endgame gameplay, the veteran player will not last.
Today's situation with a high defender's advantage along with high upkeep costs for the attacker's side (it does not compare to one another) is a result of game mechanics, not of player actions. As I said before, good games set the bounds for their players. The way these bounds are set, and the way they are implemented in the game, is important.
If these bounds feel like a 'punishment' (and the high upkeep does feel like that - without it you cannot defeat an equal or even slightly weaker player, which is the whole point, not the fact that you would want 10 million man armies) then it only makes sense people are complaining about a faulty endgame. They are right.
