Well then, you can be dark lord. Go out and conquer the world, I'll help you out. I would much rather be an advisor and the power behind the throne, than the face of of an empire. You can wear the big bold target on your face, I'll just run the world. I'll be the Cheney to your Bush.

Let me draw an analogy to your favorite "Star Wars." George Lucas created Star Wars, right? I'll bet some fools actually believe that. Joseph Campbell was a mythology expert that "advised" Lucas as he wrote the script. Campbell basically told Lucas the 5 most popular mythological story arcs and a dozen or so very popular archetypes. Lucas picked the ones he liked, and together they collaborated putting a sci-fi "skin" on classic mythological storylines. Star Wars was not an original creation by Lucas, but he revels in the glory bestowed upon him by the naive.

It's like the line from the Jurassic Park movie by Ian Malcolm...

I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here: it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility... for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had you patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now you're selling it, you want to sell it!

Lucas stood on the shoulders of the ancients(that he was shown by Campbell), and claimed the work as his own.

The point is that I think it's far better to run things from behind the scenes, rather than strive to be the "ruler." Power with anonymity is far more effective than power with popularity.

There will be no bureaucracy (did I spell it right?). Only a small panel of cursory advisors, and a network of spies that watch the advisors, and the generals of the Army.

I will know who's telling who what to do.

Of course, the chief problem with rulership is boredom. Boredom leads quickly to stagnation, and then a subsequent crumbling of the government.


Stagnation runs rampant in any established government. It is the ruler's responsibility to incite some sort of strife to force the principality to move forward, in some way.

Therefore, I shall play off my other advisors against you, and you shall view for my personal favor, as I am the only one with the real power--the law and the army...


I am feeling a bit groggy atm, so I will continue this tomorrow...
