Thread: Motivating Unmotivated Students

I knew a kid whose mom did all his homework for him growing up. He and his sister never did any homework through the end of high school. The mom felt schooltime was for learning and that outside of school, kids should have time to be kids.

I'm sure this influenced my "no homework" position. I wished my parents had felt that way.

I totally agree with the no homework policy. I don't give homework, but the other teachers at school do, and I am *forever* telling my kids to talk about it with their teachers, to negotiate deals like "If I only do questions 8,9 and 10, and they're correct, then I've proven to you I understand what's going on and I deserve a 100"

    I think we both win.
We're in agreement about "no homework."

    Do audiobooks count?
I've read The Hobbit/LOTR trilogy all the way through well over a dozen times. But, the last half dozen or so were run-throughs of the audiobooks during my commute to/from college. Does that still count as reading the book?
