The Purpose of Life

I do think we're put here for a purpose. Whether it's for divine amusement or not, I don't know. I think mankind's main goal for existence is to tolerate each other long enough to figure that purpose out.

we have a heart and a mind to understand whats going on,and a conscious differ right from the wrong
we shouldn't live like animals eat,drink,reproduce,then die
one should be more than this otherwise its not human at all

i believe the porpous of life is two fold. first one must understand that i personaly believe in a life before and after life on this sphear. that there is a plan layed out for each of us individualy by our own hands for the challenges we wished to over come while on this globe and ultametly where we want to go and what we want to do with our lifes in the hearafter.
second one must understand that i believe strongly in the right to choise ones own path. one may follow or not the path you your self layed out for your personaly eternal happiness.

the twofold mission of this life is in my view to 1) gain and learn to controle a body. by controle i mean more then just fine moter controle or the ability to walk a straight line. our bodys come with meny needs and desires and we must learn how to harness the power of the vessel of our souls as mush as we need to learn how to rain in its lusts and passions. and 2) to test our faith. to see if we truly believe as strongly in our current life what we believed in our past life. were the lessions we learned there internalized throughaly enough to become a part of who we are and not just lessions learned by rote to be regergatated onto test paper later.

To me the meaning of life means living. I believe this because where ever there is life, things are living. a basic answer to a basic question. I myself think that people over think this question. If we take your example on what you think the purpose of life is, then how does this effect an animal such as a lion??

What I like about life is that because it's purpose is to live, diversity is needed. diversity is needed because it allows different types of living and since lifes purpose is to live then all types of living must be explored. I believe that the only thing that really controls life is the laws of science.

It's the reason why I find humans so fascinating within there purpose in life. IMO a humans purpose in life is to be themselves. through this they help the purpose of life as they create there own living and create there own complexity within themselves.

Anyway I hope I made sense and yeah thats what I think of life :P

it makes sense to a piont. yes there needs to be diverstiy, and even oppisition in all things. but that doesnt mean there is not porpuos to it. there must needs be diversity and oppisition in weather, if it were not so nothing would grow. you need sun and rain, night and day, clouds and wind and calm for life to continue. but that doesnt mean that each dont serve a purpous in their place and time. even the rule of chaios is a rule, so there has to be a meaning to it all even it that meaning is one that we "make up" for the soul purpous of soothing our troubled souls.
the meaning we choice has signifacance to us. and is brought about by our upbringing and life experences. the purpouse of my life will not be the same as the purpous of yours if you look at the fine details of it, but stepping back and seeing the whole picture one can see that we all share a devine destany of our own making to do and be the best that we can.

it seems to me that those who wish to believe that there is no meaning to life wish most of all to escape consquences for moral choices those closet to them disagree with. i'm not saying anything about the choises one way or another. they are your choices to make and i trust that you wil do your best in making them, you'll not loose my friendship over it. but you can not escape the consqueses of what ever the choice you are running from is.

I'm not disagreeing with what you have been saying. in fact I mostly agree with what you have said. Though I believe what you are referring to is more towards the meaning of the purpose of a humans existence. I do have my own purpose/ goal that I have set myself, but It still links with my thoughts on the purpose of life. I live my life and through my own "made up" purpose I give my own diversity to life. by living by my moral beliefs and by what I believe in I help the purpose of life

one can only prepair for the hear after if one knows where one wanted to go in the first place. earth life is a middle road, nether begining or end. we were before we are and will be after. life here is a testing ground to see if you really want to go where you said you did, AND if you have what it takes to get there.
