Catapults vs. Privateers
Hi,
5th day newbie.
Question 1
Doubtless all local eyes are upon me; should I upgrade my Townhall to lvl 5 shortly before the deadline, and teleport somewhere they don't know/expect me, and let me get my bearings?
Question 2
I get one building to go to lvl 10 straight away. Should it be;
- Town Hall
- Town Wall
- Academy - getting Privateering, or
- Barracks - getting Catapults? (provisionally, I favour this option).
Question 3
My thought; get the warehouse to level 5, set it to hold 100% food.
In case of attack, food stockpile withstands pillage and keep feeding the loyalty up above 0%.
Obviously nobody can take it if its my first city, but otherwise, is this the right sort of idea?

Q1: Just keep spending your resources so as not to provide any incentive for attack. Learn the market trick to hide them if/when they do come calling. Join an alliance.
Q2: I don't really know about this. I'm saving mine. One note about your level 10 barracks idea, though, is that catapults also require metal working level 10, which in turn requires a level 10 workshop so you will in fact need two scripts for that unit.
Q3: Having a food stockpile is not a bad idea, but it just doesn't hold that much even at level 5 IMHO. Again, I don't know.
I would say that first and foremost you should join an alliance so you're not out there on your own. The game becomes a lot more ordered after that, though I was fortunate to come across a great group with some excellent players.

For your second question, here is the order I would build lvl 10 buildings from your list.
1. Town Hall
Town Hall will be the easiest. Plus the extra 3 resource fields which will at least keep you building. And another valley. Not bad for a rather cheap and quick upgrade.
2 Barracks
Well, barracks is definitely nice at 10 (for the reason you stated). But did you consider that you also have to have archery and metal casing to 10? And to get metal casing, you have to have a lvl 10 workshop (another Michelangelo script)? So yeah, this would go to #1 if it wasn't as time consuming and expensive to get the full benefit of a lvl 10 barracks. You should do this, but you will see zero benefit from this until you get all the other prerequisites out of the way, which could take you a few extra weeks (archery lvl 10 ALONE will take you 7-10 days)
3. Academy
Don't see any reason for lvl 10 Academy this early on. Investing in Privateering while you still got other tech's that are way more important would not be smart. Maybe once you get all your tech's to 9/10 and got several other cities to be researching, then yes, throw some time/gold at privateering, but until then, you certainly don't need a lvl 10 academy (unless you're just dieing to finish that quest).
4 Walls
Certainly, I guess. Don't see any reason not too, but also don't see the huge benefit at this early point. A little more durability and some more vacant spots for wall defenses, but is that something you really need coming out of BP?

I would, in all honesty, save the script. None of the options you can have now are all that fantastic, and using it now on something like the town hall means later when you're ready for catapults, you're going to need to luck into two drops, and not just one. If you save the current one, all you have to do is get lucky enough to find another, and you've got enough for your catapults.

As some one said before me, save the script. You need 2 scripts for catapults and you don't really need level 10 town hall (unless that's the only thing stopping you from becoming a general).

Chances are in the time it will take you to farm up all the medals you need from now to general, you'll get another anyways.

How are you going go get one building straight to lvl 10? Script doesn't do that, unless I'm out of the loop.

Hold off on upgrading anything to level 10 for awhile. You've got a ways to go if you're only on your 5th day. Catapults take almost 2 weeks to research all the technologies needed so a lvl 10 barracks is not a necessity for awhile. For your Academy, not many higher level players even own any warehouses so Privateering is not a necessary upgrade. By far the best use for a script is a lvl 10 town hall.
But like I said, wait until you're actually up there in time and prestige before you even go for a lvl 10. Too soon and you'll just be a target for higher level players.
