Watching 101 Dalmatians with my daughter, I came across a fabulous scene:
We join Pongo and his owner while Perdita is in the other room giving birth to her and Pongo's puppies, assisted by Perdita's owner and the maid. Every so often the maid runs into the room to update Pongo and his owner on how many puppies are born. The number climbs up to 15 and Pongo becomes more and more joy-filled. But then the number drops to 14 - one puppy has stopped breathing. The puppy is handed to Pongo's owner and he tries to explain to Pongo that sometimes life is bad like that. Then he decides to massage the newborn and brings it back to life, to much happiness.
In 5 minutes this scene captures the joy and stress of giving birth and the fear of loss, all told mostly through the animated expressions of a dog. It's unbelievably good.
