Folks, there really is only one thing to make sure when you're at war.

Win.

I guarantee you, you do not want to lose a war. The manner of winning might be abhorent, but you must win.

The proper question should perhaps be: Why did the Empire of Japan attack the United-States.

Embarking on that adventure proved to be it's downfall. As anyone with a brain could foresee at the time.
