I remember the days when kids cartoons were as violent as almost any game I could find today. But cartoon violence has deteriorated. Why? Because parents felt it was a bad influence, so instead of actually making sure their kids were watching things that were okay to watch (according to the parents standards at least) they whine and complained to the companies that aired them, and then the shows got cancelled and replaced with "funducational" shows. The TV shows I watched as a kid were the kind parents could watch with kids. I refuse to let kids pick what to watch now because of how irritating it is to be "funducated". Its like every show before 5pm that's a cartoon is like Barney taken to a different level.

    I agree.

How parents can actually torture their kids to watch some of those is beyond me.

They might even cause some kids to have violent actions from watching these.

I think a lot of what scares parents these days about video games is not so much the violence because every generation was raised on some form of violence whether in cartoons, video games, action figures, even little green army men promoted violence to some extent. We have come a long ways from the original Street Fighter in the 80s with little pixelated cartoons kicking each other to modern games now that are becoming far more life-like and in 1080p high-def. Parents get worried that technology is bringing animated violence closer and closer to the real thing.
Killing people never solves anything but it keeps them out of your hair while you think of an alternative.

    Good point.

It's okay, he didn't really rep me.
Lots of times people will post "+rep for you" but not actually hit the rep scales. It's all good, rep comes with time and good posting.
