Well, that's due in part to being on the losing end of some humongous attacks on Server 96 in Age I. When my oppressor vowed to keep farming me until I gave up playing, I found a way to make it not worth his time (built army in small amts and immediately sent them to alliance mates - along with all excess resources). In a week, I had rebuilt my army to twice it's original size - and the one who threatened me had no clue what I'd done or where I was hiding them. Seems that strategy would work exactly the same - if not better - in Age II.

So basically, if you get colonized, you just have to know what time the conscripts are coming for your army and send them out to raid a valley or something just before... and either shut down production or use the resources as fast as they come in so there's less for the tax man to take.

Not to mention, if your resource production is high enough, you could let your "overlord" take his 10% and not even blink - consider it the cost of doing business, lol.

Simple enough, and I can see why ppl are complaining that there's very little challenge to the colony feature. Seems the bigger challenge is for the one doing the colonizing - and I'm not sure it would be worth it once your victim figures out how to avoid the tithing.

What confuses me is what the war declarations are for. I mean, if you can't ever take a city permanently, then what are you fighting over? 10%?

I am no war monger, but unless I'm missing something (possible, since I'm still figuring this new version out), it seems to me the "war" part of Age II is about as useful as an empty scabbard.

Im in agreement... gee, 10 percent once a day... with a limit on colonies per city per title... and if the colony lowers production? ... ... WTH is the goal? With the cap on colonies... the goal might be to drop one colony in favor of another which would produce more... which leaves that dropped colony to return to building and amassing an army, which probably will want to seek revenge at some point... so back to colonizing him/her... if you still can. Endless cycle.

While this may be favorable to the person who keeps getting colonized, since he or she will always have their cities available to come back to... At the very least, Evony should not call this a war strategy game. There is no conquering available... No world domination, no ... well "WAR" You have the the ability to slap a player in the evony face and then sit back and wait for them to slap ya back... woot...

I was colonized and I did exactly that. Ported the city to a new state and built new city near it, transferred all resources and troops to new city. Then I set production to "0", tax rate to "0" and destroyed all sawmills, mines, quarries in the colonized city. Now my overlord get 15% of the providence (which is very little) Once he gets tired of getting nothing and gives up the colony, I will start building it up again.

Yeah, colonization is really cool, I'm starting to like Evony Age 2 more and more tbh

Colonization is not a bad idea but it should have been an addition to the game and not an alternative war.

I also think they need to go back and look at the mechanics of it a little more. I think taking peoples troops is a mistake. 10% of the resource draw seems to little to make a difference. I also think it is a bad idea to take the colonized players troops away. Taking away troops from someone like a smaller player is bad idea. How are they supposed rebell against the colonization? Seems to me that is not much different than taking someone's city. Ulitmately what will happen is that the weak player will be sick of being owned and they will leave the game. Something not good for Evony's business.

What a wickied addition to the game - opens up opportunitys for REAL empire building, with potential for evil overlords who tax you to the hilt or beneficial conquerers who give protection alongside there tithes

Really looking forward to seeing how this effects game play.
It's just too bad they took away the ATTACK feature...
