Thread: Account Sitting

This point about not logging in at the same time on an account you are sitting needs to be made explicitly clear in the rules. I try to follow the rules, even if I think they are a bit dumb (let's not get into that!), but it's hard when you don't even know what they are.

I just got suspended because I was account sitting and had both accounts open on the same machine. My friend had done all the right things - emailed to let Evony know well in advance, and given them both her and my email addresses. I have checked the rules and nowhere does it warn me that, having done what they asked, I had to follow more rules to keep safe.

PLEASE could the sticky be updated with the real rules? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?

seems that evony actually make up the rules as they go along, which is why no-one that has been suspended actually knows WHY they were suspended.

Account sitting is when a player can not get on his own account for a couple days ( not just 8 hours or so while he or she is sleeping or at work or school ) Then the Account holder most inform Evony that they will be going away, for how long, and what ONE person ( and ONLY one person ) they are having sit there own account. During the time period that the account holder is away the only person allowed to log into the account is the Sitter ( The account holder can't log in either, after all if he was able to log in he didn't need a sitter ). The Sitter is allowed to perform all normal functions on that account as if it were his own account. Note since there is only allowed a single sitter on the account that leave the account as vulnerable to attack as his own would when said sitter needed to sleep or work etc.

"People once believed, that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes, something so bad happens, that a terrible sadness is carried with it and the soul can't rest. Then sometimes, just sometimes the crow could bring that soul back to put the wrong things right"

Stick all of this in the forum suggestion section.

The letter of the rule is thier for when people exceed what's acceptable. The spirit of the rule is to enable fairness.

I suggest you read the rules again and get some idea for what they're trying to achieve. If you were to realise that you and our friend could easily be heghbours, sitting in each other living rooms and obbey the other rules while not breaking the spirit of it all then you'll see a clear difference between that and what you propose.

I speak from practicality here, not from an arbitrary letter of the rule type thing. If you can find ways to limit to neccesity the need to account sit and if you can find ways to support your alies while they support you friend then you should be able to achieve a simailer result without excessively crossing the line.

My way of looking at anything is that so long as no one is complaining you're probably doing it right, but sharing accounts, even to limit the use of those accounts while shared, it's without reason and it exceeds both the letter and the spirit of the rules. Don't do it.

Now if he's away on a long weekend, or unable to access his account because of work comitments combined with the need for sleep, you can ofcourse sit his account and do everything you proposed and more, but you can't directly help another account on your ip.

I also read apost here from a green/blue who said they didn't care if you ahd both accounts open or not, the only thig you coudln't do was multi with them. Which suggested to em that a careful player who never overlaps his accounts and who plays independantly woudl likley get away with playing an alt indefinetly. But a single instance of joint account use on one target would be be a big no no.

Again the letter of the rules and the spirit of the rules. No one truly wants to go around forcing everyone to obbey some strict interpretation of the rules if they don't have too.
