Thread: If Age I gets merged into a super server??

Default If Age I gets merged into a super server??

So I have been reading speculation that players who choose to stick with Age I might get stuck with dealing with being merged into a super server.

There's a couple of reasons I choose to stick with Age I. Here is my list of reasons.. (feel free to add to my list as I am not that familiar with Age II yet)

    1. I like where I have my city set up and all the NPCs around it..

    2. Players on an older server would have an unfair advantage if all the servers on Age I were merged into one.

    3. Age II has a cap on heroes ability to level.. (I like the ability to GROW with the game)

    4. Age II has stupid items like one which lets you destroy half of an enemies food resources.. (time for more credit card warriors)

5.Frankly I think the graphics are lousy on Age II..

6.Castles of Camelot is a Facebook App that is identical to Evony Age I.. and I have spent more time on it.. and though I still prefer Age I.. if my hand is forced I'll go play that App

So my question to all of you is this... what will you do if your hand is forced.. answer the poll please..

(my apologies that I cannot add a poll in this thread.. for some reason I don't have that option... so please just reply)

So here are your options.. please select

    1. I would enjoy having all of the servers merged on Age I!!!

    2. That would suck I would just have to play Age II

    3. That would suck I would quit all together!!

    4. What was that face book app mentioned in this thread that's just like evony Age I??? Maybe I would just play it

Games need limits to keep the playing field somewhat level. If heroes are allowed to level forever then those starting out will never be able to match those who've been on the server for a very long time and have level 500+ heroes. Imagine a PvP server in a MMORPG where there was no level cap at all. How much of a chance does someone at level 60 stand against someone who's been playing for a much longer amount of time and is level 500? Is the player with the level 60 character ever going to be able to catch up to the player with the level 500? Will they ever gain parity? Chances are, they never will because the other player will be able to keep leveling their character as well. True, they will make some progress, but will they actually catch up and get a fair fight? No. In Evony, the player's hero is an indicator of the level they have achieved as troop build times are based on the hero used as mayor for starting them. One of those heroes that is insanely high level has build times that allow them to simply out-build someone who's highest attack hero is no where as high a level giving them an advantage they will never have to relinquish due to no level caps on the hero in Age I.

it looks like b is going to win out over a for the vote so you will be allowed to stay on the age 1 as well as try out age 2 so stop complaining and just enjoy the ride till its broke or gone

Actually I have played a MMORPG where there were no level caps on players and new players were perfectly safe.. to do this there were certain restrictions regarding PvP.. in this game perhaps something like a prestige restriction such that a player with 2 million prestige cannot attack a player under 200k prestige.. but a player who is say within the same prestige level give or take a few hundred thousand can attack. Basically you get the same 7 day protection.. and after that you are protected from players that are HUGE until you can protect yourself.. At 200k you can easily have 100k archers and full level 10 walls.. I know this because I just achieved it.. and with a decent alliance you can survive..what I am basically saying is think outside the box.. it is possible to allow heroes to level beyond the level cap of 100 on Age II... and I think it should be allowed..

In regards to the person above this post claiming that I should stop complaining.. I am NOT complaining.. I already KNOW that I can stay on Age I.. What I DO NOT KNOW... nor for that matter does anyone else know (including most of the evony staff) is if eventually there will be a merging of all Age 1 servers.. my question posed was if that were to happen how would you deal with it.

Prestige restrictions don't mean anything in this game. If someone wants to destroy someone with much lower prestige, they will find a way around the restrictions, and that player with 2m prestige can probably still decimate the 200k prestige player even with full level 10 walls and 100k archers.

The level cap for normal heros is 100, historical heros is 150, and that's completely adequate considering hero equipment can take attack up to over 600 I believe.

yes.. and a player with a considerably lower level hero can still find a way to decimate a player with a much higher level hero.. I also know this for a fact as I experienced an instance where I had to lead an attack on server 116 where the player whom I was attacking had a hero 100 levels higher than my highest hero.. and yes I broke through his defenses.. regarding a player who has 100k archers and full level 10 walls not being safe from a player with 2 million prestige.. I understand that as well.. once again an instance that I clearly understand .. you are welcome to check server 116.. I know what it feels like to have 2 million prestige I also know that with a good alliance (like I stated in a previous post) one can easily get reinforced.. and even with 2 million prestige.. one is a little cautious when considering attacking a player that is in a decent alliance with full walls and 100k archers.. simply put..

option 1 but they will make it like 6 huge super servers, i think that would be fair i know if we did that again and merged with lets say the first 6 servers our group of allainces that we are at war with we would all have to team up to even stand a chance although give us 2 months of no upkeep and i would not care lmao

I am not talking about defending with the higher level hero, I am talking about attacking with, and the troop build speed associated with that hero, and if you are leading an attack, then you are unlikely to be the only player attacking them.

tbh big server merge sounds too fun. it gets a little boring and cramped on my server. my neighborhood is a nightmare of NPCs, no one can port in and try to attack me because some jackanapes was going all across Swabia filling up flats because his stupid n00b farmer alliance was getting decimated by people who actually know how to play (SHOCKER! anyone with no def and no army but millions of resources DESERVES to get farmed) AND i have to march for like an hour with cav to hit anything good...

    new neighbors would be nice!

Maybe you should considering capturing high level NPCs to attack from.
