Thread: Why spend money?

    Default Why spend money?

To all of you who have spent money on Age 2 I ask why. Evony has released what is clearly an unfinished product that is filled with bugs and exploits that should have been addressed prior to the game going live. It amazes me that people will actually spend money on this right now. So, to all of you who have spent money please tell me why you did it? I am trying to understand why anyone believes this is a product worth paying for in it's current state.

Many of the exploits that were found shortly after release could only work on a live server as a beta server or test server wouldnt be connected up to various features and thus cannot be tested in said environment.. this is the way its been in every beta to live release ive ever seen. there are almost always a bunch of bugs/exploits etc in an initial release of this type of game even after thousands of arduous hours of testing and fixing etc.

The only reason I can think of is Scripts to upgrade buildings to level 10. That is the only reason I buy the packages on Age I. Frankly, I don't understand why people pay on either age. Perhaps it's just a crutch. I'll admit on my first server I paid WAY TOO MUCH towards the game in packages. However on my current server I have bought only one. That was in order to get promotion quickly enough to build NPC and to gain some scripts

on Age I, if you've been merged into a SS, really the only way to flourish in the game is to spend, and spend a lot.

they put us onto a map with far greater number of squares than we were on previously.

So it's a big vastly empty map.

Anyone who's making any effective attacks ports and hits, ports and hits, ports and hits.

Cuz marching your troops hundreds of miles over empty lands is not effective.

very true mulch, the only people not paying to teleport are the farmers who don't want any enemy nearby and have no need to move

I can see that point, but I was on world 3 that got merged to WN1 and not one open valley on the map. Call me a farmer but when you can't farm, you don't have an army. I'll take the longer marches over not being able to sustain an army any day. When you lose millions of troops to starvation tell me more space is bad.

I can understand that there are going to be issues with any game when it transfers from a beta to the live version. In the case of age 2, there were still many issues that should have been addressed before the game went live. One round of testing was not enough especially when there was a limited number of players, the game wasn't running at its normal speed and then the addition of new content like Facebook. This was a recipe for disaster. There were way too many unknowns with this game to say that it was ready to go live. Big picture problems should have been addressed prior to this game being released.

So after the first week when a vast majority of the issues were still not addressed what did they do? They released more servers. I tried Na1 from the opening to see how well this game was going to play. During my beginners protection I was able to log in 3 of the 7 days. Not one system email from Evony telling me there were problems with the game and that they were addressing them. Instead I get spammed from Evony telling me how I can spend my money. Reading through the forums it looks like many of the people that did spend money didn't even receive what they were promised. To go out and market to the masses that this is a full functioning game is almost criminal.
