Would this involve dressing up in an encounter suit at any time? Cos' if so, I'm all for it.

True but after a few centuries you would get used to it. In any case most people end up having to watch their parents and some friends die anyway so it is not like it would be a new experience, just a more reaccuring one.
Killing people never solves anything but it keeps them out of your hair while you think of an alternative.

In Babylon 5, *it's what the immortal aliens use to disguise the fact that they have evolved into energy beings.* SPOILERS

Immortality only works if it comes with invulnerability and a freeze on aging.

I'm not asking for super strength or flight or anything. But immortality is useless if you can be dismembered and sent to the four corners of the earth, but continue to live in agony. It's useless if you can get a fatal disease and suffer the ravages of that disease, but can't die. It's useless if your body continues to age for centuries and suffers the ravages of time. When the earth finally ends and I'm blown to the vacuum of space, immortality would suck if you weren't invulnerable to that vacuum or still needed to breathe.

I know these points have been talked about already, I'm using them again for my 2 cents on the issue.

So, if I can have invulnerability, and never age, then I will take immortality. Otherwise, it will only lead to an existence of endless pain.

I would rather my soul be immortal than my body, because we can only truly love one person in this life, and when they go, our hearts get torn to pieces.
There is no way that I would want to spend eternity with a broken and scarred heart...
what if you could live immortal together?

    No thanks.
i would have to agree that those circumstances would make immortality the pits.
but think of the good you could do if only you could get used to the fact that every 5yrs or so you would have to fake your death and move so that what ever friends you did make didnt get suspicious. it would be easier if you could hole your self up somewhere set your self up as a company and only meet ppl on line, but that kind of existence would get dull after a while. so does this immortality come with anything but the "gift" of not dieing?
if not count me out. if however you get some kind of "power" or "gift" to go with it. something to counter the pain and the loss, something to do good with, then yes. i would consider it.
