Well, with centuries to work at it, you could probably manipulate a very large fortune. You could buy the influence to run at least a corner of the world to your liking. But, being worshipped as a "god" might be reaching a bit too high.

[QUOTE=Mormy;1086446]I guess I am not young enough to believe that love will last forever. You may remember some bitter-sweet memories of a long dead love but it will always come again, and again, and again if you live long enough.

Well that makes getting old sound even better, lol

All will bow eventualy, ether to me or "god" your choice

Ruling the world as a god would be impossible unless immortality also came with omnipotent powers. If anything being able to live forever would make you a target if it became widely known so it would not be something you would want to flaunt unless you wanted to spend eternity as someone's lab experiment. However if you were careful you could gradually amass a great deal of wealth and to some extent power, but power usually comes through the control and manipulation of others and it would be difficult to maintain the personal connections you would need without people finding out what you were, so more then likely you would become isolated from the rest of the world. You could maintain your wealth, but you would have very little real influence in the world.
Killing people never solves anything but it keeps them out of your hair while you think of an alternative.

i would have to agree that those circumstances would make immortality the pits.
but think of the good you could do if only you could get used to the fact that every 5yrs or so you would have to fake your death and move so that what ever friends you did make didnt get suspicious. it would be easier if you could hole your self up somewhere set your self up as a company and only meet ppl on line, but that kind of existence would get dull after a while. so does this immortality come with anything but the "gift" of not dieing?
if not count me out. if however you get some kind of "power" or "gift" to go with it. something to counter the pain and the loss, something to do good with, then yes. i would consider it.
Faking death = Never being able to see your friends again, unless you want to be called a zombie/ressurected freak/ second Jesus = Sucks.

Being worshipped as gods had nothing to do with immortality and everything to do with the technology gap. If you want to be a stargate-type god, then you can go do that now. With the right items and preparation, you can probably go find some tribe deep in the Amazon rain forest to rule as a god.

For people who do not know who he is, watch the Movie "Sherlock Holms".
