Thread: Age 2 Refuge?

    Default Age 2 Refuge?

So I had my troops out suppressing another player and my food upkeep went big time negative while my troops were in the other players city. Because of this all my food was eaten up and it went to 0. So,I decided to see what happens when my food hit 0.

What I noticed was that the city in refuge didn't start eliminating troops to make the upkeep positive again, rather it went to the city I had food in and applied the upkeep to that city instead. Once this happened the city that was in refuge switched to having a positive food supply but would not produce any food. I had 0 food the entire time I was suppressing even though it was a positive food production. Is this how refuge works in Age 2 now?

On a side note it would be nice if the food upkeep for suppressing troops was not applied to my city but the city I was suppressing. I figured I lost about 400k food to suppress the city and the return I got in my production was about 800 per hour. Seems like the reward for suppressing the city isn't worth what it cost me.

The rewards for suppressing someone are little and need tweaking if colonisation is to be worth the effort, however I think that it is best that when suppressing someone your upkeep acts as though the city is a valley.

I think that is exactly what happened. The game views my troops in another city just like it does if I was keeping them in a valley.

What would really makes things odd is if Ashanta comes on here and I agree with her too. LOL!

Ashanta's a good lass, we all ought to respect her.

very interesting. I do hope for the conversion. I am tired of being a slave to the game for fear of losing all my troops. It is nice to add the safety net in case you have to go out of town for a few day sor something. Having to pay cents for Holiday Mode, just so you don't die is a real drag. This change, revolt protection and auto heal are 3 of the best changes.

Well, since suppression lasts 8 hrs, and the actual "battle" doesn't take place until the 8 hrs are up, why not recall your army after the first attack and then just send them back in time to be there when suppression ends?

Wouldn't this eliminate the huge food drain and still allow you to suppress the city?

I tried that. I pulled my troops out and sent them back 1 hour before the suppression ended. I ended up losing the battle and the enemy had no troops in it. I had to guess that not having the troops in there the entire time was why I lost the battle.

Troops reinforced to the suppressed city....defend the city, and should take up embassy slots. Only the army that actually initiated the colonization can suppress the city, as far as I understand it. Further, if you do reinforce the city, the player that you are trying to colonize can dismiss them. Early on in Beta I checked that out with someone I'd colonized, and I doubt anything about that has changed since then.
But....the eternal ray of sunshine REALLY wanted to see you, so I helped brighten your day by removing the city from around you! ^.^
