Default Constructive Feedback Based on the current state of Age 2

This is my first evony forum post. I will try to be brief and limit the wall of text and get to the point.

I understand attacking etc is working as intended. I am another player who is displeased with not being able to "attack" and "conquer" player cities. Colonization is an interesting feature but stand alone it is not challenging or engaging enough to hold players attention for very long.

I am a new player to age 2 and like many other players I jumped into the servers excited and blind buying up all the coins deal that i saw while I could only to find out a week or 2 later these attack features weren't in the game. I'm aware I could cut my loss and run to age 1 but now I feel like theres an investment financially in age 2.

As a loyal evony fan and consumer I strongly urge you to compare financial and player population numbers for this month and then incorporate the attack features from age 1 for 30 days and monitor the same results and see the difference. The bottom line is the majority of players WANT age 2 but they also want attack features.

Poissble alternative could be. Offer players who purchased coin for 2 that want to go back to age 1 a transfer, or refund. Add 1-5 new additional servers that HAVE the attack and conquer abilities enabled and allow players a free transfer. All you would need to do is literally open a new server and flick the attack switch back on. This would make many players happy without affecting those who wish to keep age 2 as is. And it would cost you very little or nothing.

One other personal thing I'd like to mention that has been mentioned in other topics. Please please please stop with the visual display upgrades. Between current face book pop ups and the blurry windows I feel like im on the brink of having seizures every time I open evony. I suffer from migraines daily and am unable to even play right now due to the new blur feature as it destroys my head and I have no way to permanently disable it.

Obviously lag is a huge issue too especially on the world map but I know you are addressing it and are working on it.

Like I said before this is not a rant just a personal commentary from a past satisfied customer. I hope you will make positive changes for the player base up coming very soon and I'm sure other players will support you with coin for positive bug fixes and UI and game feature introductions.

Thank you! keep up the good work!

Thats the most reasonable and fair argument i've yet seen for all of the things the community has been saying for weeks, and I completely agree with you.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us in this positive and constructive way. Although our dev team takes in player feedback on a daily basis, I've directed them specifically to this post as I think it makes some excellent points.

Foxy, can I make a suggestion. This thread does have a lot of good points, but there have been many threads that also have good points that simply go away because you guys are ignoring/not responding to them. How about creating a developers thread in say the "coming soon" section that focuses specificity on the different aspects of the game. Anyone that comes in and flames will have their post deleted so the thread stays on topic. That way a communication line can be established.

People are willing to share their ideas and you can like/dislike them, but communicating with the community is something you need to start making a priority.

We have a whole section devoted to this. We call it "On Topic" and it's been very successful. As for communicating with the community, we've been putting out updates almost daily: on the forums, via system mail, on facebook, and on twitter. I think if anything we might be overloading our players with the communication, but until they ask us to stop we'll continue.

I have a question, could you announce as many maintenances as possible, even a minutes notice is better than nothing, I understand that you can't inform us all the time, just could you try and make sure we have as much notice as possible where possible.

You are already trying this I think, just the last one was 3 seconds, I would prefer more than that, I know it is not alway's possible...

and please people do not post anything that is not constructive anywhere. otherwise it will get ignored, particularly if you just say this is rubbish or or something like that. Everyone is more likely to be noticed if they help, and are nice about it.

You are exactly right, I don't mind the many maintenance times as such but i'd like to see perhaps a post in the forum informing everyone that there has been an unscheduled maintenance and the server will be back up as soon as.
I find that people are willing to put up with it more if they are kept informed of the happenings.

Thanks for the forward to the Dev's FoxyBunny =] I know there's a lot of negativity toward the changes on Evony Age 2 right now but I'm one of the minority who understands change and fixes take time. I fully support you guys and understand the golden rule "you can't please every one". Having quick responses and talking back to the community gives me great security that you guys are listening and making daily changes to gives players what they want. Hopefully you guys will roll out some fun and pleasant changes in the following months to come, and I for one look forward to it. Ciao!

I'd like to add a few things to this discussion:

First - I notice 3 new Age II servers opened between when I went to bed last night and this morning. Any chance these are in response to the OP and will have the attack ability available?

Second - I have to agree on the fade-in feature that was added. This does nothing to enhance the game experience and is hard on the eyes. It may be cool to watch occasionally, but after the first 3-4 times, it's just annoying. Maybe save that for things that occur less frequently - like the achievement notifications?

Third - Regarding the Hero quests, it is not only annoying, but potentially harmful (for anyone prone to migraines, seizures or eye problems) to have that button constantly flashing. However, especially when someone just began playing, they are not going to be willing to give up their first 200k of any resource or 4k warriors before they've had a chance to build up more than that. So the only choice is to either decline the quest (which means you can't finish it later when you are more capable) or put up with the flasher. I would suggest that instead of permanently declining the option, give the player the opportunity to "POSTPONE" the quest for say a week. That way they can turn off the blinker without losing the chance to do the quest when they are better able to sacrifice the resources or troops to it.

Fourth - continuing to add new features when the bugs and problems that already exist have not been addressed is not just frustrating to the players, but also seems to be making the developers' job harder. Foxy posted a thread today noting they are having difficulting find the cause of troops that go missing during maintenance. Until you find that cause, adding new features (which may well have bugs of their own that get layered on top of the existing bugs) is just making it even harder to find the cause of the problem. (It's like having a baby that develops a rash - you don't add more new foods to their diet, but rather stop and figure out what food they are already eating that caused it.) You can't find a needle in a haystack by adding more hay.

Fifth - Can someone please explain why the customer service people rarely respond to anyone? Even when they fix the problem, they don't give you an answer (this is not counting the emails that ask you for information you already put in the initial request, making it appear that they never really read what you were telling them). The new support system would be a great help in this respect (being able to track the progress of issues), IF someone on the Evony side actually posted an update for us to track. But, at least in my experience, they don't. Heck, even when they finally resolved my issue 8 days after it was posted, they still didn't respond to the ticket - not even to close it.

Sixth - so far, both of the issues I have had to put in support tickets for involved delivery of coins and/or packages in Age II that I had paid for thru Paypal. I never had that problem when playing Age I before, and after getting frustrated with Age II, I started an account on 141 two days ago where I have so far spent $35 and gotten both the $5 for 250 and the Beginner's Package immediately upon completing the transaction, just as I always did. So it would seem the problem of people not getting what they are paying for is specific to Age II.

    ************************************************** ************

    Now, a suggestion:

So far, it seems that many Age I players are either avoiding Age II completely, or getting bored with it based on the lack of attacking ability, not to mention the pruning of npc's, etc. Others who have tried Age II are going back to Age I for the same reason (which is why there are at least 3 threads asking for server 142 to open). Yet there are many very great features in Age II that would be a huge improvement to Age I on their own, and would likely make Age I players very happy.

I suggest that instead of having Age I players migrate to Age II, allow both to stand alone, but using the same interface and graphics. Let Age II remain as a primarily colonization game good for those who prefer building and farming over fighting - and let Age I remain a true war game, but with the enhanced graphics and features of Age II.

So Age I servers could get the new interface, hero armor and quests, historic cities to conquer, etc - but still retain the ability to make and keep their npc farms and to attack/take over player cities instead of just colonizing them.

This would seem to resolve the issue without forcing anyone into anything they don't want. Also, if this could be done with existing Age I servers that have gone mostly dormant, it might revitalize interest in those servers due to the new challenges of Age II. This would, of course, translate into more income for Evony if those players suddenly start buying cents to upgrade their hero armor and build up armies to take on the historic cities, etc.

Having read so many threads here about the transition and how some love it, others hate it, others are just totally confused by it, this would seem to me to be the best way of keeping both those Age I players who love the thrill of a real war game and still attracting those who would rather play a far more peaceful version where the worst they have to worry about is giving up 10% of their production and having a few troops conscripted once a day.

I have been playing and building up my citys for a week and found out that you cant attack players or take over them, this makes the game almost like farmville like a fellow alliance member said.
I was reading here and I tuoght was very good critic and I and many with me would like to move to a new server with the attack and take over other players. I will keep playing for the time beeing until this issue is resolved or I want refund. or maybe gem coins on a new server. I can't see the point in playing more if all you can do is colonize someone. Not even loot him of his resources or can we? Why do we have wearhouses?

BUT how I see it the games core is that you attack and take over cities. Now what happen you send your troops agains someone else's troops and you both loose troops and nothing is gained. just build up new troops.....
So is the new core of the game just to build troops then I wonder....
almost better to have no troops that way you will not loose any and you can keep upgrading your cities... like farmville
