I think you might be missing the point. We've said repeatedly that the developers never intended people to amass millions of troops and then spend the next several months of their lives farming NPC's three times a day.

AgeII has several features intended to discourage this exact practice. If you are determined to have 250K cats and an NPC field around you and you like setting your alarm for 4am to do farming runs, please feel free to continue to play AgeI. If you want something different, where it is all about strategy and not size, then AgeII is more your style.

I haven't tried age 2 yet.... coming from age 1 background here.

How do you dominate a state in age 2 with strategic play without massive troop?

We used to have a very small alliance and able to dominate the entire state in new map size in age 1.

    haha thats a laugh,

than why have achievements that you get by amassing millions of troops??

in age 1 I didn't have to farm every day because once i had a decent army i got my resources from other players. you can't do that in age 2.

So instead of spending the next several months farming you have to wait for resources to grow to really become functional. I only need to log in maybe once every 3 days to do anything.

if this game wasn't huge a time sink before it really is now.

and what strategy, colonization is a joke. all those stratagems you made are much better suited to the play style of age 1.

The devs may not WANT folks amassing huge armies on AgeII, but many will try anyway. To some mindsets, success dictates having a huge army. The devs can discourage all they want. They are never going to overcome basic human nature.

Age 2 has more players, closer together so you will need to be organised with the people around you.

To get the achievement you don't need to have the troops all at the same time, it's cumulative. As you train troops they are added to your totals [sometimes, when it works right ] after they get killed and you train new ones to replace them, your total goes up more. Those achievements are overall totals, not the amount of troops you must have in your city at one time to get them

This is a question to age 2 players that have been playing for a while:

    1. did your alliance able to conquer a state entirely?
    2. How did your alliance do it? Is the strategy of attack and conquer different from age 1?

Foxy, I saw the title :"what's the point" and I wondered to myself the same thing. Where do you see this game going once the quests are over? In Age 1 it was all about war then. Now with colonization, the fun factor seems to be lacking when compared to straight out attacking. I fear you will lose your player base once they finish with the quests.

There are 2 issues brought up that I would like to voice my opinion on...

    1.) The conlonization thing.
I've said this once and I'll gladly say it again. It was not the smartest idea the Evony team came up with, it's bottom line stupid. The ultimate purpose of this game is to be able to attack people, take their resources and even the city if you work hard enough. Not sending some people over in a mini van for a weekend sleepover. I understand that people with huge armies dominate other players and yadda yadda yadda. However, the people with huge armies worked hard for what they have and are quite proud of it. Then here comes the big bad Evony beast to shoot them down, yet again.

    2.) The inactive players.
I was reading the beta info. When I was reading, I came across something that said during the beta testing, all accounts that were inactive 24 hours or more would be purged. Why can you not do the same for live playing and even Age I? There are a ridiculous amount of inactives beside me with 0 prestige who have been that way since before i got there. The same thing applies to Age I, these accounts are taking up valuable NPC space. I just used an adv tele last night because there were too many inactives, not enough action and not to mention the inactives had already been farmed. How long will it be before you delete these accounts?

You might have answered your own question there. =P
