Essentially, it was a routing problem for people that ended up coming into their network by the path that your system takes to get there. That's why I was thinking a proxy might get you a different path into the network...

In theory, if it is fixed for you, it should be fixed now for many people, unless there are other paths into their network that need updated routes... What this is caused by are what's called "static routes" inside a router's routing table. Someone probably just forgot to update a route when things were changed within the network this morning...or the route update didn't take.
