i kept a love letter for the longest time. loved to read it over and over. only line i remember in it now is that i some how made his ears turn purple... it was adorably awkward in the letter i think he needed something to rhyme with what ever came before. but any way i loved it and read it all the time when i was a kid. i got it when i was 7yrs old and kept it till i was.... much more then twice that...

Love: a feeling of affection that surpasses ones one natural affection for life and/or liberty and is in its self the harbinger of happiness.

Love letter: written testament of said affection to one other then self.

Cute thread, I must say. But you are right. Writing IS a lost art. Most obvious is the grammer/spelling used these days. Kids wouldn't know what to DO if directed to WRITE out a LETTER of ANY sort, let alone a LOVE LETTER Its rather unfortunate and sad to see. Their ideas of 'love' nowadays I shudder to THINK! And YES I do speak from experience having raised SIX kids...the youngest bein 16. Lost indeed!

    BACK ON TOPIC:

I used to get love letters, before I was married, and at some point, when things were much more secretive, they were love emails. Still very cute and MUCH MUCH MUCH longer than any love letter I have ever gotten.

Sometimes I still have blank books that I will write love letters in. Whether or not I share them at a specific time, well, that's my secret. But sometimes love letters aren't just about letting someone else know how you feel about them, it's getting the thoughts down on something more permanent, and letting yourself know, or reminding yourself, how you truly feel about someone.

But that's just my two cents.

This time, I actually agree with you. It is not HOW you deliver your feelings, that is up to you. Whether it is via email, letter, text-message, or even a recording... It does not make a difference to what the message contains, and that part is all that matters.

It is totally different. You can spend time with someone and send a love letter. It is a diffrent feeling all together. Its nice to recieve a love letter and what if you could not visit them for awhile a bussiness trip or something else your point is invalid

I would more like to say the "Bringer of Happiness" instead of "Harbinger."

The latter has such a negative connotation...

But it's still a great definition...
