    Sort of a middling-caliber player question here.. but it'll give you a chance to show off your combat mechanics and math skills if you have a minute

    I got crunched () big time: A fairly strong alliance around me went hostile with mine, I'm a free player with no ports, so I'm down to one city with no wall defenses, no troops, etc. Trying to rebuild, but for the last week they keep cav spamming me, sometimes 100 attacks a day. It's okay, I'm enjoying the challenge of seeing what I can do.

    Most attacks are pretty wimpy, just 1000 or 2000 cavalry, though multiple waves of it. 75% of the people sending it aren't that big, so if I could kill off a few of their waves it would be a decent loss to them. Probably enough to discourage them from attack eventually. (My alliance is small and pretty much losing, so they can't reinforce me much if at all.)

    So: What's the most efficient - i.e. cheapest cost of replacement for the units I'll lose - way to stop 1000 cavalry? (Sometimes they add 50 - 1000 scouts.) I'll be online, so I can comfort & keep gates closed until the right time, and I can build e.g. a couple of abatis before attacks hit to set range.

    My walls are 10, but archery is just 6 currently, MT 7, Iron 8, Med 7. I have decent food production and some warehouses, so I can sell food and buy some resources to keep a bit of troop training going. Twelve barracks, all 6+, whatever attack hero I can grab from the inn. So slowish troop production, but not crawling. Maybe 8k - 10k archers per day possible. I do have some transporters, so overnight I try to march out my army to keep it safe - so I can build up over a few days. Can make anything but catapults.

    What would you build up to stop a wave of 1k cav? 5k? 10k? (If they add scouts does anything change?)

    Is there a possible no-loss defense? Exercise tells me e.g. 1000 ballista OR 3000 archers + 1 worker or 1 warrior will just kill the worker/warrior. But I don't know if that's right, and my archery is only six (some of them maybe have 9-10 hbr / compass).

    I assume for a 10k wave I'd just want ten times the same troops I would want for the 1k - but correct me if this is wrong. Also, it'd be nice to be able to take 3-4 hits, healing or building some 1-troop layers in between, as much as possible (once a build up a bit over the threshold for taking on a single wave).
