There should be no profit involved at all for open communication...poor planning on your part. I am desperately seeking an alliance, but we have needs for the alliance, and no one is using the forum alliance thread for recruiting in our domain/world so the alternative would be to use the chat box.

I disagree that the single speaker is the only losing item. I don't know how many times I've gotten quarrying tools or plowshares when I don't have quarrys or farms. Or the numerous times I've gotten any resource.
Not to mention the Ritual of pacts when I'm already in an alliance that has the highest member limit.
I'm sure there are some other things that I didn't mention, those are just the ones that stand out in my mind right now.

I have never recruited players from WC using speakers or been Recruited from WC, In fact alliances made of WC members dont seem to last long. I truly hope they never make speakers free except for booze hound

Obviously since I have a whole 'campaign' for me to get free speakers, I have to chime in.

I do fall on the other side of the argument from FoxyBunny and think everyone should be allotted speakers every day, 10-24. Chatting is what makes the game fun, and one of the main reasons that I kept doing the 'Daily Report' was to increase the action on world chat. Now that the servers are mature, a lot of us know players all over the game and in other alliances, and use world chat to talk with them. Also, world chat is something I go to when my alliance is quiet. I tend to 'know' the majority of the people of world chat from playing the game for so long, a year now, and the people on it are almost as familiar as my alliance mates. I do think its wrong to force people, especially hosts, to pay for speakers, and I think Evony does have a pretty good filter system. I know spambots are a real threat, but I do agree that a limited number of speakers is the way to go.

    What a great idea.
The other day I saw some familiar names on world chat so I started talking to them for a few minutes which I really enjoyed because it was a great environment. I actually had more fun on WC than I had had for some weeks on the server. But as I had a limited amount of speakers I didn't want to waste them all knowing I would not be able to send group messages to my alliance when I needed to.
With a limited amount of speakers every day I think on the whole each server will be more fun and everyone could learn to enjoy the social aspect of the game without extreme limitations on what they can do.

I would like to see someone admitting to buying speakers from the shop, then maybe I'd not completely agree with Dawnseeker.

I had to buy speakers once as a host to send an alliance wide mail, and then I have bought too many while doing my 'Daily Report'. Its a miracle that I've played this games since May '09, and have never won more than 10 speakers or 10 cents.

I do have enough war horns to last over a year, if only we could exchange items, even if it was pennies to the dollar, it would be nice.

Alright, Boozehound bought some. Evony is making a killing in the speaker market. I think everyone should get 100 free speakers a day.

I bought some with the free cents that I won on the wheel (yes, I was THAT desperate)

And 100 free speakers is waaaaay too much... how bout something more manageable, like 20?
