While we are always sorry to hear of such things, a keylogger on a player's computer is nothing we have any control over. We cannot control the security of a player's email either. And if someone's entire computer is compromised but only Evony accounts are infected, it begs the question: where did they pick up the virus or otherwise get compromised? We know for a fact that quite a few of the "cheat" websites and software implant keyloggers and other malicious software on your computer. We do what we can by shutting down such sites whenever possible, restricting the usage of links on the forum, offering advice on account security precautions, etc.

As for what pialpha said about brute force password attacks, although we may not lock out an account for incorrect password attempts, we certainly KNOW and log they occurred. In such an instance, we'd be contacting you and working to secure the account. To my knowledge, we've never had an attempt at that.

Unfortunately, the game and forums are filled with people who freely admit to account-sharing and other security breaches. Amazingly, the people who have their accounts hacked have always claimed to have never shared account information. We are sure this is true in many cases, but perhaps you can understand our skepticism when every single person claims this.

What it boils down to is this: restoring an account that has been reset, or abandoned cities, or dismissed troops/heroes, etc. is a very time-consuming and difficult process. The sheer number of people who have such things happen, combined with those who accidentally abandon cities or release heroes, makes it impossible for us to restore them all. I wish this weren't so, but it is just not something we can do. We do our best to help out where and when we can, but we cannot do it for everyone.
