Thread: multiple cities = huge lag

I think you have a valid point. I noticed the same problem of increasing lag as I acquired more total cities. I have played on two servers, and I saw a noticeable increase in lag immediately each time my city count increased.

I thought everyone had this same problem, but it appears that there are players who did not.

I get the same problem. Usually I don't get alot of lag when I first log in, it increases as time goes on. With more cities I find the the time without lag grows shorter and shorter.

and no i should not have to reduce my cities that i got built up and huge ammounts of time invested in upgrading the barracks to 9 walls 9 etc etc... the game has options for multiple cities, I want to utilize that as well as historic heroes but thats another problem entirely. But for some reason having more than 4-5+ cities just increases the memory leak and makes the game unplayable.

the person that said its lag, server, server lag...please learn to read.

looking at task manager, memory usage with 6 cities is going up about 1k per 3-5 seconds. starts off at about 112k..quickly up to 266k then 1k per few seconds. up until it gets to 450-566k which is unplayable. refresh with f5 resets memory back to about 266-300k but quickly back up to impossible to play limits. clearing all cache, using ccleaner, cleanup gives a fresh resart back from the 100k mark. either that or manually closing the firefox menu from task manager seeing as how once you get memory usage into the 400-500 mark you are unable to use file-> exit or even the X to close browser.

Only when it gets to around 1gig of virt mem do I have to close the browser, and that almost NEVER happens. And to think, I'm running 1gig of RAM and 1.86 GHZ....

I get the same issue, though I think most of my lag problems come from the "performance settings" not actually functioning at all. I set it to "no animation", but i still see animations, and my machine is running at 100% processor usage, making the game virtually unplayable.

This setting used to work about a week ago, and I was able to play without issues, but a change to the game client has broken the setting. Now it doesn't matter what it is set to, i still see the same animations, and have terrible performance issues.

Hmmm... well, I run 3 servers. On one of them, I have 4 cities, another, 6, the last, 1. Also, I run youtube, uTorrent, and many other programs that eat bandwidth.

Lastly, Flock is kinda like Firefox, but it doesn't crash as often and its more social networking friendly.
