Thread: [Age2] Life as a colony, the ups and downs and REVOLUTION

This seems to be a good trick, by accident or by design...bury the most useful troops by 1st recruiting workers, keep recruiting more workers than others. Draft appears to take from the largest group, so workers are drafted and other troops left alone. some of my colonies have done this...annoying...leaves only the option of taking population.

I like this, but one suggestion: try to find other people colonized by the same player and team up with each other. that way they are not just fighting one colony, but many.
    Which looks worse?

I am in a small noob alliance and some of my alliance mates are colonised by one of the big alliances.

As I see it - the big alliance wants food - and what we need is information. I tell my suzzed players that their job is to suck information from their suzz. Usually the really good players are quite happy to answer simple, respectful questions from their colony "How do you farm npcs?" "What is the best way to attack lvl 10 valleys? This information builds up the knowledge within our alliance.
Some suzzs dont reply - its easy to shift troops to an alliance embassy - set resource to zero and supply from the alliance. We ask the suzz to de-colonise. If not we organise a test uprising followed by a full uprising - and usually win - one colony at at time - its fun. But the suzzs that communicate - those we leave alone.

Being suzzed is not such a bad deal - you just have to know how to use it.

I think the highest combined attack value is drafted, so you'd need like 25 workers for every archer if you want to protect your archers from being drafted.

    Woldere - with respect:

I am not sure I agree with japanpimp – however – he is talking about a high level attack game. I am talking about noob alliances just out of beginner protection.

What japanpimp and I both have in common is that when it comes to suzzing you must put your pride in your pocket and work out ‘Whats in it for me?’ It is – after all – a strategy/tactics game.

For a small, new player, learning the game and not attacking (yet) – when they start farming lvl5 npcs - production becomes irrelevant. If a suzz only takes production (and if you can swallow your pride) – then what is the real cost and can you gain?

For example – some boards suggest you can farm lvl6 npcs with 1000 ballys – I lost 3k ballys and trainspotters (my arch and HBR was sorted) ‘till an experienced player told me that was a no-no and explained about how to harvest the big ones only. This is the sort of information that was a real asset to me and my alliance – the sort of thing a suzz can provide in return for irrelevant production.

I am sure my attitude will change as I move towards an attack game. But at the moment I suggest that being suzzed if you are new to the game – well – maybe it aint all bad if you can swallow your pride.

While your guide has some merit I dislike the idea of harassing a suzerain. Thats not a good way of dealing with another player. And it is another person you are dealing with not a bot.

    1. Suzerains are people, they are playing the game EXACTLY as evony intended, trying to survive like anyone else. They are not all bullies.
    2. No npc building means you need food, so colonising is one of the only ways to do that outside of farming the handful of npcs near you.
    3. Achievements for colonising. Up to 400 colonies is the top achievement for 10% increase in drop rate (increase on current rate not 10% drop rate). I usually just colonise and recall from tiny inactives to raise my total. There are simply not enough cities near me. Can anyone blame a suzerain for wanting to improve his chances of drops? This is evony's system, and EVERY player will try to improve his chances.
    4. Once a Suzerain gets some Historicals, lv.10 NPCs are better levies than most colonies for troops (40k warriors a levy).

How to deal with Suzerains politely:
    1. Email the guy first and ask what he would consider a requirement to be freed. I usually free a colony who has behaved if they leave my state. This reduces my hassle of them farming my npcs, so I consider it a fair trade.
    2. If your Suzerain responds to your email (give him a chance to) then see what his conditions are. It may be to leave a hostile alliance, leave the area, or join them. All reasonable requests for a wargame. These are NOT bullies.
    3. If a Suzerain is rude, abusive and just insults you then you can use some of the tactics, but not the constant stream of emails (spam), or the valley stealing. Constant valley stealing will only result in making the Suzerain MORE determined to hurt you. A successful uprisng is a respectable victory and imo will gain a player respect, but using dirthy tactics like valley stealing is the lowest form of aggression. You will never be truly free using that tactic as he will never forgive you using it.
You have stated loads of valid, clever tactics, all above board and respectable. Keep it that way and both players can enjoy the game.

For you Suzerains out there, try to keep some of your cities Suzerain cities and some not. That way you can have one heavily armed city for dealing with uprisings and keep your king or queen in it to stop losing your hero in the event of a successful uprising. Never keep your HHs in a Suzerain city unless you KNOW you will win.

You could just do the exact opposite as well.
    Might work just as well

    What not to do

Lets talk about what you should avoid doing first.

1.First of all don't take it personally, remember this is a war game and getting colonized is part of the game. So many times I see people going nuts over it and spamming the attacker with angry mails and spamming the world chat *****ing about the attacker. This is what you want to avoid completely. You want to be on your attackers good side. You don't want them to want to make your time on evony difficult.

    2. Do not uprise unless you know exactly what you are going up against. That means scouting the attackers city for info or getting a team mate to do it.

    What to do

    1.Open your gates before uprising.

    2. Take a chance, uprise with only a few soldiers to attack. Chances are that your colonizer will have his suppression settings on you set to 0%.

    3. Try to establish friendly relations with your Suzerain, Hopefully they will release you on good will.

    4. Check if they are in allied alliance. And get them to release you because of this.

    5. If all else fails uprise with a force greater than your Suzerain's.

    6. Request help from other members in the alliance to reinforce you for the attack.

    7. If you are losing the uprising with a force larger than theirs it may be a problem of your hero's attack being to low or your tech is lower than your suzerain's
What you can do here is get booted from your current alliance and get a larger player to recolonize and then release you on re-entering your alliance.

    Hope all this info helps.

[World]<04:30>[Delectio]: how do you find out the location of someone who declared wart on you?

Rep me or I will declare WART on you!

Finally I managed to get rid of my coloniser.
Seems that me taking his valleys and continuously uprising made it too much for him.

He probably went out to pick on someone else (not my problem).
