    Default Evony Economics Help

I'm a newby to this game so bear with me. I'll really appreciate some straightforward answers here.

"Gold" in this game is earned mainly by taxing your citizens and is used mainly to pay for heros, etc. "Gold" is completely virtual, i.e. it is generated in the game, by the game as you play.

"Coins" are themselves virtual however the only way to acquire them is by buying them with real-world cash like US$... correct?

Basically, I stumbled upon Evony a couple days ago, got interested in playing, built up a small city, but now I've realized I need to develop an army, an army with weapons. For instance it appears the weapons research cannot be completed in the workshop without "wood" and "iron ore". The only way I can see to acquire wood, iron ore, gems, etc. is to purchase them in the store with real money. Can someone please confirm this?

If real money is needed to play this game properly then I'm going to lose interest fairly quickly.

    Thanks,

    Kurnan

build up your resource fields to make wood/irion/stone/food faster so that you can build faster. Later you can farm npc's to gain resources very quicky at no expense.

money is not needed if you are smart

Some of the best players have not spent a dime. You do not NEED cents to play the game.

Well yep correct on the coins.
There is the town. inside place were you build troops.
then there is the City were you can build farms, sawmills, quarry's,and Ironmine's for resources. so you need to make stuff in your city so you can produce resources and make troops rep me if i helped.

Well you are already a step up just by being here.. There are many good guides here to browse through, enough info to answer probably any question. Another key point is finding a good alliance, one who is willing to teach you. I lucked out on my first server lol =) anyways good luck to you..
Eve for short... Been on a few servers.... learning something new every time lol

My resource fields are producing tons of food, lumber, stone, and iron for me. But still when I enter my Workshop and try to develop weapons it won't let me because it says I need "1 wood", and "1 iron ore". These are in red indicating I don't currently possess them.

Forgive my ignorance but what does NPC stand for?

Thanks for the replies. I've heard that coins, wood, iron ore, gems, etc... can be acquired by pillaging other cities. But without wood and iron ore I can't make weapons. Isn't that a Catch-22?

Wood and iron can be created with resource fields to make troops. You can send the troops lead by an unequipped hero to plunder the NPC's and valleys. As you loot iron ore and wood pieces you can research better gear for your heros.

The wood and iron to make troops and to equip heros are two different kinds of "wood and iron."

It all depends on what level flat or NPC you are going after, but sending "too much" is never a problem. I like to just use overwhelming force.

There are dozens of guides in the "guide" section of these forums that can help you determine the minimum size your force should be for efficiency.
