A little more transparency would be appreciated. They don't have to tell us about the actual investigation, but something like:

    User Name: Multi-Counter
    Server Number: XX
    Action: Banned

This would let folks know that something is being done, without interfering with players privacy. It could be posted right here on the forums where everyone could see it, and know there is more than just automated responses behind the Evony name.

The other player has a right to privacy just like you do. If you were suspended for something, would you want every enemy you have in the game who decided to report you just for the heck of it to find out about it (and KNOW when you returned you'd be down by 1/3 or more in troops and resources?).

There's an easy way to tell if anything was done... check the player stats or check their cities. If they are suspended, they will be in holiday mode. If they are banned, they will likely be removed.

Other than that, none of us has any "right" to information about another player, including any punishments they recieve.

By the way... talk is cheap. Lots of people may SAY they have alt accounts in chat just because they think it makes them seem cool, or more of a threat, etc. That doesn't mean they really do. It's very likely that most who ARE multi-accounting will never admit it so boldly because they dont' want to be caught.

Banned players aren't removed, their cities simply sit there acquiring dust.

Generally speaking, if someone is claiming to have multiple-accounts on a single server even on WC, they are usually telling the truth. In my experience nearly everyone who has stated they have multiple accounts actually has multiple accounts (some just claim they do, but most of the time, it's actually true). Not all that have multiple accounts actually say anything about it as they are trying to fly under the radar.
But....the eternal ray of sunshine REALLY wanted to see you, so I helped brighten your day by removing the city from around you! ^.^

Well that is one thing I would suggest Evony change. I can see leaving their cities on the map for a short time, in case the person was banned incorrectly - but once any appeal of the ban has been resolved, if the ban remains, the cities should be removed to free up the map spaces for active players.

Perhaps. There are certainly enough players who would be bold/stupid enough to announce themselves as "c h e a t e r s" in chat and think it doesn't matter. Of course, I personally think these folks are idiots, not only for what they claim to be doing, but for practically daring anyone reading it to report them. They may as well just report themselves, lol.

Personally, I don't even know how these folks have the time to manage multiple accounts. One account is more than enough for me!

If a player gets banned, their cities will eventually be taken by other players until they only have one left thus solving the problem. The drawback is some spent money or have tons of prestige which usually means they will be there for a very long time.

Evony currently has in excess of 170 servers. Say that is 5k active players per server. That would be 850,000 people.

Maybe the number is a bit lower, equally it might well bevery much higher.

Anyway how many people do you think it would take to keep that many accounts under review and to make decisions about multi accounting? Several hundred? One thousand? Ten thousand?

Well lets just agree on a lot.

The actual number is two as far as we know. And they have a whole bunch of other things to do as well. Sorting out bugs, supervising server maintenance, contributing to development plans, dealing with fc stuff, lots and lots of stuff to do with Evony's business that I can't begin to imagine.

Lets be realistic. The lots of people that would be needed to police the game are
    just not going to appear.

If we want a free game (I do) we need to put up with the multi accounting.

Well put. It's an unfortunate truth.

Why would that be cowardly? If someone in your alliance is breaking the rules of the game, it could hurt the entire alliance, first because that person is likely to be caught and suspended or banned just when you may need to count on them for a war; and second because they've already proven themselves untrustworthy by doing that, so how do you know they aren't running yet another account in another alliance and spying on your group in advance of an attack or internal mutiny, etc.

Those who choose to c h e a t deserve what they get - whether they are reported by a member of their own alliance, an enemy, or just a lurker in chat that has a strong ethical streak.
