    Default Honouring.

A recent member of Helios died, serving in Afghan, his patrol jeep was hit by RPG fire, I though I may honour him over the Forums, I though this buetiful war poem may find its place to honour him as our brother
    Song of the Soldiers
    by Charles G. Halpine

    Comrades known in marches many,
    Comrades, tried in dangers many,
    Comrades, bound by memories many,
    Brothers let us be.
Wounds or sickness may divide us,
    Marching orders may divide us,
    But whatever fate betide us,
Brothers of the heart are we.

Comrades, known by faith the clearest,
Tried when death was near and nearest,
Bound we are by ties the dearest,
    Brothers evermore to be.
And, if spared, and growing older,
Shoulder still in line with shoulder,
And with hearts no thrill the colder,
    Brothers ever we shall be.

    By communion of the banner,
    Crimson, white, and starry banner,
By the baptism of the banner,
Children of one Church are we.
Creed nor faction can divide us,
Race nor language can divide us
    Still, whatever fate betide us,
Children of the flag are we.

    Song of the Soldiers

Fear not death, fear not the pain inflicted upon yourself during death. Just fear for those you left behind.

    Hmm...

Whatever the purpose, if there was a dead soldier it changes nothing.

    Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince;
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

Don't crack jokes or troll people on a thread like this, please. There's nothing admirable about that.
    It's all Rodri's fault.

A soldier who dies for his country or his cause deserves the highest honor, regardless of the circumstances. My sympathy goes to his family, friends, and comrades-in-arms.
    May he rest in peace.

I agree with you all, thank you for showing respect.

My brother is currently, and has been serving in the Marines for quite some time. And while he was only in Afghanistan for one year, that was perhaps, the scariest year of my life. My prayers go out to his family and I hope that this can remind everyone of the sacrifices others make to give us the freedoms that we take for granted. R.I.P.

Being deployed in a war zone is no joke. Even for us survivors, it's still a pretty traumatic experience, and something many of us would prefer to forget.

One of my friends went insane from the war horrors, any noise and he was too alert, frightened, bad nightmares 24/7, he commited suicide after 2 weeks of putting up with it.
