Greetings:
Recently, my account was suspended from Evony for b-o-t-t-i-n-g. I did indeed use a third party b-o-t. The purpose of this email is not to plead innocence (for I am not), but to discuss the following.
This email is to illuminate what may be a missed opportunity for Evony. I thoroughly enjoy the game of Evony, but due to my work schedule, as well as responsibilities in the home, I cannot be competitive in the world of Evony because I cannot be at a computer for hours at a time every day. By using a third party program to upgrade, farm NPC's, train troops, and medal farm, that allowed me to spend my limited online time attacking and building alliances. I believe that I am not the only player to realize that unless we live at, or work all day at a computer this game will not be for us. We will quickly be swallowed up by the players that live online. This is evidenced by the fast rate at which players join, and then quit this game.
The downside to this is that Evony is limiting its appeal to a small segment of the population. There simply is no room for a casual player in this competitive field. This is where Evony may be missing an opportunity. Evony could indeed broaden its appeal if it offered automation as a part of the game. There are many people (like me) who work and have disposable income, and would be open to the idea of buying coins to purchase a "city manager" as part of the game for a month, or week, at a time. The idea would be to take the automation idea of the b-o-t - and implement it into the game. We could buy a city manager for 100 cents a month, and that manager could be directed to do routine tasks - i.e. farm npc's, upgrade cities, build troops, and medal farm valleys at all cities.
This would be a win for Evony. This would increase the numbers of casual players who continue to actively play after realizing there is indeed a way to be competitive with those who live online. This would also increase the revenue to Evony for many players would spend the $10 per month for a city manager. If this feature is indeed implemented, I would caution you against pricing it greater than 100 cents for 28 days. Those who use this feature would use it continuously for months at a time - giving a steady income stream to Evony. If it is priced above $10/month, that does become difficult to justify for a game.
I hope these suggestions are taken to heart, and even possibly implemented into the game. As for me, my Evony career is at an end. I spent $120 on this game throughout various accounts. Quite frankly, I believe the money was well spent for it's purpose - entertainment. Unfortunately, the recent b-o-t crackdowns are driving me away. If we are prohibited from allowing an automation function to our game - either through a third party, or directly through Evony, we will no longer be competitive. We are being forced to spend our entertainment dollars elsewhere.
Sincerely,
Knightly

In one players opinion, Evony stands at a crossroads. The current path leads down to a land of fewer players and less revenue. The proposed option of a city manager would offer another pathway leading to greater numbers of players and increased revenue. I wish the world of Evony well. I do miss the game, and hope all the remaining active gamers enjoy great success.
