Japanpimp -- the issue here, what started the whole thing, is "how does the language or grammer of the "increase in percentage" on one side affect the "decrease in percentage" on the OTHER side of the equation".
a car is going 100 mph... its speed is 100%
if it goes 50% FASTER its speed is 150% (only in relation to its previous speed... its ALWAYS accurate to say a car is travelling at 100% of its speed... this is meaningless)
so, if the car INCREASES its speed it DECREASES its "time til arrival at a destination"
we were discussing why it "appears" that "100% faster" means it arrives at its destination instantly... what "increase of speed" equals a "100% decrese in travel time"
if you OWED $100 and bought that a $5 that stock goes up 1000%, your stock is now worth $50... so a 1000% increase reduces your debt by 50%
if you STILL think its simple, you have skipped about 8 pages
