Default why truce when you can holiday?

So, I may have this all wrong or it may be something that has already been learned by most and I am just way behind on it- could be because I don't ever use either of these. If holiday is 10 coins a day at -I believe- a minimum of 2 days, why would anyone truce? Truce is 30 coins and your troops still consume food. Of course, I know you can still build, research, etc in truce... but honestly, if you are only going to be away 12 hours and you have reached the point of most where you don't have anything to research or build... what's the point of not going on holiday? If I am not mistaken, you can actually end the holiday early you just lose the coins you paid for the remaining time... Even still, you just paid 20 coins for a truce period that would normally cost you 30 coins and you didn't lose any food to your not being able to farm npcs.... So, why truce when you can holiday? Or am I missing something??

More people truce because you start out with a few truces, but have to pay for holiday.

When you truce you can still produce resources, build buildings, and que troops. On holiday everything comes to a standstill.

You truce when you know for certain a particular guy will be comming for you. You truce because you simply need time to either get reinforcements in your city or rebuild lost troops.

You holiday when you wont be online at all.

You cannot go into holiday if you have any incoming attacks on you however you can truce. In holiday you cannot have troops out (reinforcing, returning or marching), you cannot have any troops queued in barracks etc.

So the main reasons to truce instead of holiday would be if you had incoming attacks at the time you needed to leave, or if you need to keep building troops etc for tomorrow.

Many of the big spenders on our server truce every night to protect their war city, while their troops are building getting them ready for the next days fighting.

Yes that is a good idea if your not being attacked, or not building troops 24/7 like most players, other wise truce is still the most time efficient way to do it

Both have their merits and disadvantages.

First, when you go on holiday, your food consumption stops. The food upkeep is the bane of evony. And is the most pressing concern for all uber players (if not all players) as uber players usually maintain large armies. There are very real benefits to knowing that one can forego of evony for a few days without worrying about food upkeep/ refugeeing.

Second, you can choose to end your holiday mode EARLIER. Take note and in most cases, ppl are not aware of this. It is not true that you can end your holiday mode early (note that I used the term "earlier" in the previous). You need to let the first 24h pass before you can deactivate holiday mode. Whether you like it or not, you will have to wait out the first 24h before you can get back in and play. On the other extreme, if for some reason you can not log back in after your planned holiday days, there is that auto extention you can check before you set holiday mode -- which is a bonus. Ppl have always been fond of anything auto in Evony. Note that this is the only one (or one of a few) autos allowed in Evony. Now, I wonder why? lol.

The previous posts have clearly explained the benefits of a truce so i won't delve into that. The disadvantage of truce is that it is fixed time. You start your truce and it will end in 12h. After the truce you are fair game and are now unprotected and need to use other means by which to protect yourself. In holiday mode AND after the first 24h, you get to pick when you want to deactivate it -- which is hard for your enemy to predict.

Last negative on truce is that you are getting the dent on your food without being able to farm to replenish it. Tho it allows you to buy food from the market and transfer res between your cities. But you still loose a lot on res for 12h bec you can not farm.

When you truce, you can keep playing, rebuild troops, etc. When you are in holiday, you can't do any of these things.

Holiday is the best thing ever put in this game, for a mere $1 a day, I no longer have to be a slave to the game if only come on every other day for some farming. Also, in 2 hrs I can do all my farming and bring in 2-3x what I consume at that time. Match it with 4-5 hrs around server maintenance it is 4-5x my consumption, so positive stockpiling of food is a certainty. The 6hrs of downtime between farming cycles cost way more in food than a highly productive city(ies) can produce in resources to be converted to food will gain you.

Other benefits, not mentioned.... items like excal or penicillin last for weeks or months, not a very costly week if the Wheel of Crap doesn't smile upon you for something useful.

And if there are no targets out there at the time, it's absurd to be locked into farming 3-4 cycles a day or 6-8hrs of time, yet still be only balancing production to consumption of food at best. Don't know too many people that work for 20 cents or less per hour.
