    Default Video on the attacks??

Well it has come to my concern that the more people i meet they only want one thing and that is...Well they all want the same thing and that is this, they want to see a video of when they attack or defend on upcoming enemies.

Well i decided to bring it here and try to discuss it with you guys.

I think it is a great idea, if implemented properly of course. Some kind of animation would be fantastic. I think first the actual combat needs to be adjusted, but that isn't what this topic is about.

For now, I will resolve myself to continue watching scenes from Braveheart as I Uprise, or Alexander the Great when I Colonize.

I like this idea, it something I've been thinking about a lot for a while, it would add a nice new dimension into the game, and bring some more entertainment, it would be a nice touch, but with that said it would be so hard to implement into the game.

They could just follow the cue of other online free war games (non-MMO, of course) and show them fighting in your city. There's a certain amount of area which you don't really use in your City, and that would be spectacular location to see a battle as your walls are visible from there as well.
Only thing that detracts from this is that it'll make it far easier for some of the hardcore addicts to figure out the equations of the battle within a small margin of error just by watching the videos.

But, on the plus side, it will help the ignorant idiotic annoying.... let's get back ontopic... weaker players understand battle mechanics.
Which is not positive, seeing as my alliance would have lost a city to 10 of them ganging up on one member yesterday if the attackers had actually understood battle mechanics...
but meh, it might make it more fun.

This would be cool the first few times you watched it, but it would get old quick. I can only imagine the lag you would get when evony was generating vidoes while u spammed done a persons traps/abstis, or were sending loyalty waves.

If it adds no lag, and there is an option to turn it off, i am for the idea. (just cause i want to watch 100k scouts jump the wall like the Prince of Persia and stab some archers)

i doubt then animation would reflect the actual battle mechanics. one example is when u get a facebook thing in ur city, u click on it, and u get a completely different facebook thing. so the animation isnt linked ot what is actually happening

If there was any form of animation at all, it wouldn't be this epic. (even though it'd be awesome)

What they might do is create a series of simple gif animations that can be downloaded quickly and have the player download the code for generating the battle scene as well. What it would look like is a top down or side view of your units rushing the enemy castle, archers stopping to fire, etc.

The scouts climbing the wall could be done with a separate set of animations. Very simple. Rain of arrows = awesome. Other things like how cav can destroy archer towers without taking damage would be a little harder to figure out.

The problem is having all these dead units, and also making the unit count close to the actual one. 500k archer sprites would fry almost any computer. What they could do to combat this is take the unit count and divide it by 2000. This would result in a single strike having no more than 50 sprites from the attackers on the screen, increasing rendering time to an acceptable level.

Having the code for the battle generator on your computer would reduce the lag caused by it to almost nothing. The battle could be watched by anyone who had access to the report. But... This could also require an actual installation.

The way I'd put it in would be a button where it said "Watch Battle" in a report, to the left of "Location Detail".

Really, though - I'd like to see it happen. And not in AgeII, either - AgeI.

One problem with adding things like videos or music or such to the game is that it makes it less and less dial-up friendly, which is something I don't think Evony wants to do.
    It's all Rodri's fault.

Well that would be cool if it was an offline game or if evony had sorted out the AWFUL lag and memory leaks that locks up browsers across the globe. Adding music or animation or video will kill evony completely. I use broadband and have a very powerful pc and i can BARELY play the game and have to restart the browser every hour or so.
Most players turn off the animation in the settings as soon as they can to reduce lag. I enjoy the graphics but would sacrifice them for older Age1 graphics in a heartbeat if the game would load properly and stop crashing all the time.
