Thats not true, there is usually something about Israel in the half hour of time allotted to world news.Shanbec this is America. If it doesn't happen in America it doesn't exist... Seriously, when I was in America the news sucked ass.
Though in America world news is something that happens in another State. Though I think that is more a reflection on how the United in United States is an Oxymoron then actual disinterest. You just can't fit that much in half an hour of world news. And all our political information must also fit in that half hour.
So its not that we are disinterested in the rest of the world, we just don't have time to hear about European elections and assassinations and such.
Also never heard of the song, I don't listen to music.
