as mentioned before get your pertinent research skills to lvl 10. typically you can start using a 150 attack skill hero but your losses will run around 6 to 8k archers (and of course the rainbow you sent). AND you must scoutspam the lvl 10 npc until you get a single digit lvl defending hero. even then, that defending hero still could have a high attack skill which equates to higher losses.
if you can use a horn on that new hero you are sending in, then do so. once you start getting up to the 200 to 250 attack skill range, you can pretty much stop scoutspamming. you may see an occasional spike in archer loss because the defending hero was a lvl 50 or a bit lower but that really should go away after a bit.
as to what to send to farm a lvl 10 npc. as i mentioned earlier there is a large variation as to what works. Once upon a time i was on s5 and i had an alliance member put together a cost spreadsheet using all the different methods of attack the members were using. Costwise, it was all pretty much the same so it is up to you...
what i use is this and it has worked 99.9 percent of the time. Why the .1 missing? there have been times that many of us have experienced a total wipe and no one has been able to explain why. you will find a number of threads discussing this matter. anyhow, my thoughts is that it is due to lag of some sort that causing the marching order to screw up. in almost all cases
you see an increase in the number of traps destroyed dont know why.
anyhow this is what i send...
2k workers (there is a reason to send workers, it is mentioned in one of the advanced battle mech threads, they help keep troops inside the npc)
3k warriors
3k scouts
90k arch
1 each of the remaining troop types
1850 ports (or however many you need)
i am sure there are better troop mixtures out there but this one works. once you feel comfortable or you have your hero's attack skill above 200, then go ahead and experiment.
typical losses are all workers all warriors and scouts killed run between 80 to 100%. archer loss ranges between 4k and about 6.5k with an attack skill of 200.
sunray, in answer to your question. if you are successful at farming lvl 10 npc's, then there is no reason not to use the same method to conquer a lvl 10 so send in those ports on the first wave to gain the resources and possibly help increase the town's grievance by them not having any food. it may , or may not, help decrease the town's loyalty a little faster.
