My attack hero was 142. I used excalibur and he is around 180.

    HBR Lvl.9
    Compass Lvl.9
    MT Lvl.10
    Archery Lvl.10
    Medicine Lvl.9

    I didn't use a warhorn.

Please guide me where did I go wrong? Thanks

Cant see your report, but what lvl is your hero, not attack, overall. Also, I don't know what you sent, but...I regularly farm with a lvl 100 hero, 224 attack and get 7.5k archer loss, plus most of rainbow. I send 90k arch, 3k scout, 3k warrior, 2k worker, 2k transport. I tried the same attack with my lvl 50 queen with a 198 attack, and lost everything, even the transports. So unless your hero is at least a lvl 70, I wouldnt attempt it. And I think that lvl 142 attack is a little low as well.

I tried an NPC10 first time tonight, following Hods "cheap" guide... and it was a total fail.

    Ouch! LOL

Hods guide says a hero with at least 130+ attack, and mine has 226 attack, but is a lvl 63. The necessary tech is all maxed to 10. So, went looking what I did wrong.

I gather that it failed, because my spearhead hero lacks the required leadership following from his lvl?

Back to farming NPC5 and 8 to get the heroes above lvl 100, I guess.

    Use the cornford mix.

    Now the mix is:
    90k archers,
    1k swords,
    1k pikeman,
    2.5k ballista,
    2k trans,
    3.5k scouts

That seems to be for farming, right? My intention was to conquer it. So what could I best send instead of the transporters?

    to lordshiva and sunray...

as to farming lvl 10 npc's there are many methods to reduce loss of troops.

as mentioned before get your pertinent research skills to lvl 10. typically you can start using a 150 attack skill hero but your losses will run around 6 to 8k archers (and of course the rainbow you sent). AND you must scoutspam the lvl 10 npc until you get a single digit lvl defending hero. even then, that defending hero still could have a high attack skill which equates to higher losses.

if you can use a horn on that new hero you are sending in, then do so. once you start getting up to the 200 to 250 attack skill range, you can pretty much stop scoutspamming. you may see an occasional spike in archer loss because the defending hero was a lvl 50 or a bit lower but that really should go away after a bit.

as to what to send to farm a lvl 10 npc. as i mentioned earlier there is a large variation as to what works. Once upon a time i was on s5 and i had an alliance member put together a cost spreadsheet using all the different methods of attack the members were using. Costwise, it was all pretty much the same so it is up to you...

what i use is this and it has worked 99.9 percent of the time. Why the .1 missing? there have been times that many of us have experienced a total wipe and no one has been able to explain why. you will find a number of threads discussing this matter. anyhow, my thoughts is that it is due to lag of some sort that causing the marching order to screw up. in almost all cases
you see an increase in the number of traps destroyed dont know why.

anyhow this is what i send...

2k workers (there is a reason to send workers, it is mentioned in one of the advanced battle mech threads, they help keep troops inside the npc)
    3k warriors
    3k scouts
    90k arch
1 each of the remaining troop types
1850 ports (or however many you need)

i am sure there are better troop mixtures out there but this one works. once you feel comfortable or you have your hero's attack skill above 200, then go ahead and experiment.

typical losses are all workers all warriors and scouts killed run between 80 to 100%. archer loss ranges between 4k and about 6.5k with an attack skill of 200.

sunray, in answer to your question. if you are successful at farming lvl 10 npc's, then there is no reason not to use the same method to conquer a lvl 10 so send in those ports on the first wave to gain the resources and possibly help increase the town's grievance by them not having any food. it may , or may not, help decrease the town's loyalty a little faster.

Thanks dekkon, yes, it makes sense in that way to send ports. I had not thought of doing it, because of it possibly slowing things down.

I do have to mention, that I'm on age 2 server. I just ended up in this thread to see what might have been the reason that I had a total loss, with a hero over lvl 60 with an attack over 200, in order to avoid the same thing happening again. I will use a horn too next time.

I had scouted the NPC in order to lower the hero. But on age 2 it's a bit different and a bit more unpredictable.

On Age II I have experienced problems using heros below level 80 when farming lvl10 NPC. Once I get my hero over lvl80 all is fine, losses of under 5K archers. Hero level=leadership=IMPORTANT though we don't seem to understand how it affects things, it does!!!

Adding 1 of each layer does absolutely nothing because they'll all die to traps in the first round and never function as a layer.

I recommend this layering with a compass of 9 up to 250 hero attack, and lvl 10 compass after. While level 10 compass will decrease losses on 95% of farming runs, if your hero is too low an attack you will suffer enormous losses that final 5% of the time because your archers run forward too far and will get hit by the warriors. This happens when the hero defending rolls a high INT and the warriors can survive enough rounds of archer fire to get in range of the battle.

    Hope this helps,
