the bigger problem is that inactive players aren't being removed. this should be changed, there are loads and loads of inactive players. there are a number of former alliance members around me that hadn't logged in for a month when we kicked them, and over a month later their cities are still there.

The captive hero is a separate issue. it makes perfect sense for a captive hero not to be persuaded by a sow discord, he's a captive and thus has no loyalty to the lord holding him captive in the first place. that said, there should be a means of taking a captive HH from a player who has not (or cannot) persuade him.
Yeah, but only after "x" amount of time has passed. Allowing captive heros to be taken by other players from the second they are captive status would introduce a whole nother set of problems.

So I say just make it simple like this.... "If a hero is in captive status for more than "x" time then that hero gets automatically released."
Done deal.
