?? Are you saying honor allows you to attack people in BP? This is certainly not the case in Age I, and i highly doubt it is in Age II either.

If this happened in age II, you should file a bug report

Unfortunately, in Evony, you are practically guaranteed to be molested directly out of Beginner's Protection, regardless of how much effort you put into defense. Welcome to Evony.

You cannot attack anyone under BP, you CAN attack them when they come out of BP. What some players forget is Evony fails to tell beginners when they leave BP until the next server reset, if even then.
This issue of never being 100% sure when BP ends has been a complaint since Civony. A timer is all that is needed, that starts on the first login and expires after 7 days, just like resource buff timers. But for some strange reason evony refuses to ever do that.

So on the 8th day (I think its the 8th day) the player can still see the icon on the top right (or left in Age1) telling him he is still in BP, but in the map view to everyone else it clearly shows 'peacetime or wartime' instead of 'beginner'. Thus the new player gets attacked. There is no cheat involved, its simply poor programming on evony's part and the inexperience of the new player (which is completely understandable).

Colonising new players allows others to complete the colonise quest, and a new player could be 100k prestige so he looks like a nice easy but still useful target for enslavement.
If a player near the new player does NOT colonise the new player, his team-mates will, or worse, his enemies will. Its inevitable.

One tip for new players is to AVOID prestige quests until they feel they are stronger. The lower your prestige the better. Most big players ignore tiny players as they offer nothing in terms of resources levied and have no real army. They might leave a player alone for a few more days. Also keep your TH below 7 as the large town building draws attention. The problem is keeping your cities looking small requires you do not grow fast and thus you stay weak. Its a catch22.
Overall NEVER start on an old server, unless you are a Veteran of Age2. You cannot expect others to simply let you grow without hinderance.

Well I don't agree with your strategy. It is of course just my opinion.

I take a strategy of making him pay if he tries to colonize me. Fight him off best you can. Be the little mouse that roared.

When I started I simply used this strategy.

Number one build up my resources as best and as fast as I could. You cant build anything without resources.

Follow the beginner quests as fast as you can. Often the bonus you receive is more than the cost to do the quest. Especially the lower ones.

I did buy 5 dollars of cents...but that's all. Once they institute the new combat system, I will decide if I like it.....then I'll decide if it is worth spending more.

Stayed just under comming out of BP early.....

Built my AT and troops fast as I could 24/7 queue.

I ignored prestige and honor for their sakes alone...instead wanted to make sure I had an army and defenses.

Once I got out of BP I kept my army moving. When the scouts came they never saw my full army. I would farm valleys at long range.

Once the attacks started comming (and they will) I used every strategm or truce or whatever I could do. I got some help from my ally (was small)..but not a lot...500 archers.

I fought off the first 5 colonization attempts....some with almost no damages others were close. BY far the time to try and fight them off is the initial battle.

One guy finally got me colonized (rank 4 on the server) Caught me offline

He tried colonizing my main village too but failed in one combat and was being frustrated by strategms on several other attempts. Finally he messaged me saying he would leave me alone if we did the FB thingy. So I countered and said OK...if you dont draft my troops at the other village....we agreed.

A couple others attempted to colonize my main..but I was always able to fight them off with either troops strategms or diplomacy.

I eventually impressed the big guy enough that he invited me into his ally. (a top 5) I am almost the smallest guy there but I am holding my own.

So I would say that being timid is exactly NOT the thing to do. Just do your best and learn as fast as you can. Remember Archers and archer towers! It is possible, even without spending a lot, to have a defense big enough to hold off any SINGLE wave of attackers by the end of beginner protection. JUST barely but it is possible.
