You would probably(hopefully?) build troops alot faster if you cut down one barrack and build a workshop

The issue with this set up is that it requires you to be online very often to micromanage your resources or they quickly reach capacity limit and your production stops.
That is why I always have a warehouse city.

Typically it's a NPC 10 I take where I destroy the 1 iron mine and lumber and I use it to store my extra lumber and iron.
This way I can have a lot of lumber and iron without my production stopping at any time or needing to micromanage the market to store my resources...

Right now I have 320 mill lumber and 390 million iron in it...

I don't agree with the 6 cottages thingy for a lumber city either.
27k population isn't enough to queue 18 hours or so of archers training in one go which is what those of us that work need to do....
You need 36-40k pop or so to do such a thing...

There are multiple solutions to what you are saying, you can sell your resource that you don't need (i'm guessing since you produce quickly to your capacity that getting resource when you need it isn't a problem), help some of your alliance members who need it if you get THAT much resource. I've seen some 7 cottage builds but you could always set to 0 production and make troops which definitely takes some time to make if you are making archers (or longer time consuming units like bal/catapult)

but yes, I think the people who come on more often should be rewarded in some way don't you agree? they are investing time into a game and if they can get a little bit (or more) ahead of the others because they are micro managing or busy making troops all the time, then don't they deserve it because they are putting more work into their account?

All I'm saying is that a 6 cottage build, even if it seems better on paper is going to lead to inactivity in your barracks if you can not come online very often...
And the higher your heroes attack get, the more inactivity you will have...( because 0 production + pop raising will not be able to queue 17h of archers...). And even if you find a few minutes to come online at odd times, it takes longer to queue troops in every town provided you use your best excaled hero to do so.. ( and if you don't use your best attack hero to queue troops, why the heck you even bother to make an optimal build..)

Lets say your archers training time is down to 1 min per.
At 18 barracks that means 1080 archers/hour. With 27k population you can only queue 13 hours of archers, 14 hours if you do pop raising...
And almost every player will have periods of more than 14h when they can not be online...

When I need to send troops over, i send over my politics hero, demo my lv 4 barracks and build a rally spot.
That is not a smart set up.
Basically that means your heroes in that city get no gear bonus at all so you have terrible training times..........
Once your gear and stars become decent your hero will easilly cut your training time by 2 just by equiping gear...

One thing I would add to the original set up by the way is that if you have cities close to each others they do not all need relief station ( you can send your troops to a close by city that has one).
That gives you one more barrack spot...

Not really sure how Spawns fits iron towns in 8 cottages either.

40 lvl 9 iron mine requires 44k population...
    8 lvl 9 cottage provide 36k population...

With full iron you need 45k Pop, that's 8 Lv10 Cottages(-1k pop but that's ok), sure only using Lv9 cottages you need 10.

6 cottages is 100% reasonable, if there lv10 you get 33k pop, if lv9 you get 27k pop.
My archers are on like 50 seconds, like 1min for my heroes without excal, that's like 13hours of que time, now its every easy to be on twice a day to que them up, actually when I can get on more I can keep them qued for up to 5-6 days.

I actually have towns with 4 cottages that I run 7h Archer ques on.

SO 6 Cottages is 100% reasonable as most people can get on twice a day.

Those that can't need more cottages its that simple yes.

Any ways i have a 2.0 Version of this guide almost finished which I will be posting soon, it has a lot more building set ups and advanced sections as well as small Bio of the type of player each set up is for.

Spawn- AgeII Na13 - Massacre Founder
Every one of your enemies has a weakness, you only have to find it, Unless you find your self facing me, were it shall be your weakness that leads to your demise - Spawn.

Good idea. The best city structure can vary quite a bit depending on your play style. Particularly for people that play on multiple servers. When you start having 8+ cities on multiple servers, its hard to find the time to constantly babysit each of your cities which can really drain the fun out of the game over time.
