In the classical sense, despotism or tyranny is the illegal or unconstitutional seizure of power. In essence, a usurpation often leads to a form of government led by the tyrant or despot. However, such a definition does not deal with the character of the particular despot who could have either been benevolent and moderate or malevolent, imperious and capricious. In addition, an autarchy/autocracy is an absolute monarchy.
